JOB PURPOSE
To assist the
Finance Manager in developing and implementing finance systems and procedures
to support the organisation through its growth phase and beyond.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Financial
control and accounting
• Take
responsibility for all financial and accounting issues delegated by the
Director Finance and IT /Finance Manager
• Ensure
maintenance of proper and updated books of account for all financial
transactions
• Ensure
that effective systems are put in place, and regularly reviewed, to allow
adequate financial management and control of SC India including:
- Annual
accounts and tax statement preparation;
- Accounting
and management information systems;
- Cash
and cash flow management and control;
- Expenditure
procedures;
- Documentation
of all controls and procedures.
• Supporting
HR during preparation of monthly payments of salaries, allowances and income
Tax ensuring that staff benefits such as salary, allowances, loans etc. are
disbursed on time
• Ensuring
Proper data backup mechanism in place for financial records
Ensuring
proper month end closure at HO Level .
• Supporting
Finance manager in regular updation of policies and procedures
• Monthly
ledger scrutiny and tracking of advances and payables .

2. Bank
and Cash Management
- Liasioning
with bank for web banking operations at state offices and HO
- Ensuring
internal control mechanism in place for cash and bank management.
- Maintain
the updated bank mandates for all offices

3. Financial
reporting and complinaces –
• Ensuring
compliance of SC INDIA on legal matters concerning Income Tax, FCRA and other
GoI regulations
• Coordinating
statutory and Compliance audit of accounts, ensuring replies to any audit
queries. Preparation of financial statements of accounts of SCINDIAB.
• Ensure
proper closure of audit findings of internal audits on finance function.
• Coordinating
with state offices for proper and monthly closure of accounts and review of
their reports.
• Support
finance manager in Income Tax Assessment hearing and documentation.
Person Specification
• CA/MBA
or other equivalent qualification
• Five/Seven
years of experience within the finance department of a national or
international organisation (experience within the non-profit/voluntary sector
would be an advantage).
Competencies
• Excellent
analytical skills – the ability to analyse complex financial data and design
and produce effective management information.
• Excellent experience of budgeting and budget management.
• Excellent understanding of financial systems and procedures.
• Strong business acumen and the ability to contribute to strategic decisions.
• Excellent experience of computerised accounts packages, Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage a complex and diverse workload and to work to tight deadlines.
• Understanding of Save the Children’s vision and mission and a commitment to its objectives.
• Written and verbal fluency in English
• Excellent experience of budgeting and budget management.
• Excellent understanding of financial systems and procedures.
• Strong business acumen and the ability to contribute to strategic decisions.
• Excellent experience of computerised accounts packages, Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
