Media & Communication Consultant (Routine Immunization) - PDCSL (Apply by: 11 April 2014)

Pragati Development Consulting Services Limited (PDCSL) has been engaged by an UN Agency to provide technical, financial and human resource support to various programmes and operation in Gujarat. In this regard, PDCSL invites applications from qualified candidates for the position of Media & Communication Consultant- Routine Immunization for implementation and documentation of the media and communication strategy on Routine Immunization with special focus on 8 HPDS for improved media engagement and dissemination of key messages on RI through local media channels, in consultation with the district information offices.

The consultant will have his/her duty station at Gandhinagar.

Major Tasks:-

1.     Development of two FAQ booklets on routine immunization for media and government officials. 

2.     Support adaptation of existing mass media materials for dissemination and development of short video interviews of representatives from Govt, IMA, WHO and well known medical practitioners (to be broadcasted on TV channels and local cable channels)

3.     Support TV and radio programmes and news bulletins on Routine Immunization (at least 6)

4.     Coordinate with district information office (in 8 HPDs) for mass media activities through local cable channels, radio stations, etc.

5.     Coordinate and support Directorate of Field Publicity (DFP) teams for district media activities and ensure documentation of the same.

6.     Support sensitization of radio journalists and DFP teams on Routine Immunization for further advocacy.

Qualification and Experience: 

• Post Graduate degree in Mass Communication or any related discipline from a reputed University, with at least 5 years experience of working in media, publication & related fields.
• Good knowledge of health issues specially in the state context.
• High proficiency in written and spoken English and Gujarati.
• Willingness to travel extensively and stay in rural areas, if required.
• Prior experience of working on similar assignments will be essential.

Contract Duration and Appointment: Contract duration is till 31st December 2014. The consultant will have his/her duty station at Gandhinagar and will report to Advocacy & Communications Officer, UN Agency Gujarat Field Office. The professional fee is Rs 60,000per month and additional support costs for travel, communications, insurance and contingencies.
