Law and Policy
Location:London
Type:Fixed Term
Contract
Duration:Until End of
November 2014
Working Hours:17.5
Salary:£36,240
At the forefront of
the human rights movement, Amnesty International pioneers research into areas
where there is little precedent in law and policy.
Working within our International Advocacy Program, you’ll work to develop productive relations with regional memberships by providing advice and implementing strategies. You will help coordinate our advocacy and campaigning activities around specific country reviews, as well as monitor and analyse the review outcomes in relation to Amnesty International objectives with a view to ensuring effective follow up. You will maintain effective relations with IGO and NGO contacts, representing Amnesty International at IGO and NGO meetings with government representatives in order to implement our priorities.
ABOUT YOU
You’ll have a clear understanding of the international human rights system coupled with sound political judgement. You may have previously worked in another NGO, within the UN, in a diplomatic posting or perhaps you’ve graduated with an LLM in HR Law but as long as you have the key skills we would like to hear from you. As you’ll be advising, building strong relationships and keeping up to date with developments, strong analytical and communication skills are also vital, as is the ability to work well within a team and on your own initiative.
ABOUT US
Our aim is simple: an end to human rights abuses. Independent, international and influential, we campaign for justice, freedom and truth wherever they’re denied. Already our network of over three million members and supporters is making a difference in 150 countries. And whether we’re applying pressure through powerful research or direct lobbying, mass demonstrations or online campaigning, we’re all inspired by hope for a better world. One where human rights are respected and protected by everyone, everywhere.
This is a fixed term
contract until end of November 2014 and interviews for this post will be held
in early June.
