Headquartered at Seattle, WA-USA, SightLife is one of the leading eye banks in the world, and serves as an international non-governmental organization (INGO) to eliminate corneal blindness.
Working with surgeons in over 30 countries, SightLife and its Global Partners restore sight to more than 20 men, women, and children each day. This is accomplished through eye banks, which are centers for the recovery and placement of eye tissue used in cornea transplants. SightLife’s mission is to eliminate corneal blindness globally through partnerships with eye banks in developing countries, where 90% of the 10 million people suffering from curable corneal blindness live.

SightLife constituted a small team of senior management and distribution professionals in India in 2010 for this purpose. This is an exciting opportunity to come on board an ambitious social initiative which has already begun to beneficially impact millions of Indians suffering from reversible blindness.

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Country Director, India, National Distribution Manager shall coordinate and oversee day to day operations, business development and analytics of the EBAI-SightLife Cornea Distribution System (CDS) for India. S/he shall assist in marketing-related activities as an extension of CDS functions and create and maintain relationships with new potential CDS users such as corneal surgeons, surgical centers, and eye banks. S/he shall also be responsible for analytics that help quantify performance of CDSand plan future operations.
Key Job Responsibilities:
(A) Distribution: 

(1) Build a network of eye banks and corneal surgeons who share a common objective of increasing number of corneal transplants in India and South Asia;
(2) Review and build protocols and processes with surgeons and eye bank leadership, explaining merits of defined program;
(3) Oversee daily distribution operations and managing demand and supply for tissues;
(4) Collaborate with Country Director and Program Managers to advance organizational mission and goals in India;
(5) Identify ongoing improvement opportunities for protocols, procedures, and processes; 
(6) Build SoP for CDS daily operations, including documenting and maintaining records.
(7) Support designing of web-based software for CDS, participating in user acceptance testing as well as operating and teaching software to CDS and eye bank staff;  
(8) Monitor the processing fees reimbursement received for each cornea distributed;
(9) Manage optical media supply for CDS;
(10) Coordinate community distribution program as pre-requisite for eye banks to be part of national program; Facilitate audit for success of community program and be a SME on improving community surgeon relations;
(11) Manage relations with CDS partners; 
(12) Create system for distribution of research tissues.
(B) Managing and Maintaining Surgeon Relations
(1) Attend various ophthalmic conferences and build a growing network of corneal surgeons and leaders who can provide necessary support to SightLife India’s growth vision;
(2) Facilitate talks, lectures, live surgeries by internationally acclaimed surgeons allowing SightLife and its local eye bank partners build closer working relations with the surgeon fraternity;
(3) Tie up with various ophthalmic societies and institutions and organize surgeon training wet labs;
(4) Manage vendor relations.
4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:
Qualification: 
(1) Applicants should at least possess a Master’s degree. Candidates with Bachelor’s degree and exceptional relevant experience will be considered;
(2) Medical practitioners with post-graduate degree in business management shall be preferred.
Experience: 
(1) A minimum of seven years of professional and relevant work experience;
(2) Experience in supply chain management and/ or distribution practices within the health care industry, shall be an added advantage;
(2) Good understanding of eye banking practices internationally and in India will be an asset.
Skills & Abilities:
(1) Exceptional customer service and professional demeanor;
(2) High personal integrity and ethics;
(3) Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees (i.e. Eye Bank Managers, Coordinators, Surgeons, Medical Directors, Hospital support staff, etc);
(4) Ability to handle intense situations and show good judgment under pressure;
(5) Strong organizational skills and detail-oriented;
(6) Ability to travel as needed (up to 20% time) to conferences and various community program meetings as Distribution SME;
(7) Computer skills, including knowledge of core Microsoft software;
(8) Conflict resolution skills;
(9) Ability to be a change agent within medical and eye bank community, introducing new approaches and best practices;
(10) Ability to work independently;
(11) Position requires flexible work schedule to include some evenings or weekends;
(12) Adept at multi-tasking;
(13) Ability to accept failures.
5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:
Gross compensation for the position shall be attractive. The offer made to the selected candidate shall be commensurate with qualifications, experience and salary history.
