OBJECTIVES OF THE
PROGRAMME :
The CDS Department's objective is to support and collaborate with the Member States for further development and implementation of national policies and strategies which ensure equitable and universal access to quality health care in the areas of communicable diseases, which includes HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis Control, Malaria, Vector Borne and Neglected Tropical Disease Control, Health Laboratory Services, Leprosy Elimination and Disease Surveillance and Epidemiology. |

Description of
duties:
1. Receive, screen and log incoming correspondence, reports documents etc.
and route to supervisor or Responsible Officer with full background
information.Under the supervision of the Director-CDS, the incumbent performs the following duties: 2. Take notes and transcribe correspondence, reports, etc. from tape and manuscripts, using word processing equipment, ensuring grammatical accuracy, spelling, format and conformity with procedural instructions. 3. Draft Correspondence on routine matters on own initiative or from brief instructions, type statements, reports, studies, including statistical tables etc. using word processing equipment. 4. Arrange appointments for supervisor (and other team members and visitors); Receive visitors, screen telephone calls, respond to requests for routine information; make travel arrangements for staff, as required. 5. Maintain office records, filing and reference systems, Address Lists, Bibliographies, etc. 6. Assists in searching, compiling and maintaining information/material relevant to the programme, for preparation of reports and documents, maintain and update internal databases, as necessary; 7. Take notes at meetings and type draft summary record using computer and word processing equipment, ensuring grammatical accuracy, spelling, format and conformity with procedural instructions; 8. Perform other duties as required. |

REQUIRED
QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Skills:
Skills: - Very good knowledge of modern office procedures and practices - Ability to carry out wide variety of administrative tasks - Ability to draft routine correspondence. Competencies: 1. Teamwork 2. Respecting and promoting individual and cultural differences 3. Communication 4. Knowing and Managing yourself Other Skills - IT skills: Proficiency in the use of modern office software packages such as MS Office (Word, Excel Powerpoint, Outlook, etc) and standard office equipment. Good knowledge of GSM (or other Oracle-based ERP is desirable. |

Experience:
Essential: At least 3-4 years' experience in secretarial/clerical related work. Desirable: Experience in an international organization would be an advantage. |

Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English |

NOTE: - In addition to position-specific test, external candidates will be required to qualify mandatory tests in English language and computer skills. - A written test, using computer, will be held for the short-listed applicants.
