The position
The Finance Analyst will be responsible for the day to day
accounting functions, processing payments, recording transactions in the
accounting system, dealing with third party payments, invoice processing, bank
reconciliations and accuracy of national service company submissions. He/She
will develop financial models for project appraisals and undertake post project
implementation reviews.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Financial Analyst will keep the Finance Manager abreast
of the key financial matters and risks faced by the company and regularly seek
their guidance on such matters. He/she will be responsible for day-to-day
accounting functions including payments, receipts and funding requests for Aga
Khan Health Services, SA (AKHS) and Aga Khan Agency Habitat, SA (AKAH).
- Complete monthly bank reconciliations for both AKHS and AKAH;
- Process insurance payments, claims etc;
- Reconciling intercompany balances between entities and other Aga Khan agencies;
- Monitor performance of reports from AKHS entities, reviewing quarterly AKHS and AKAH reports for accuracy and quality;
- Distribution of funding request and reporting templates to service companies and follow up to ensure timely receipt, undertake initial review of reports for accuracy, completeness and follow up;
- Manage monthly funding requests - review submissions and prepare funding requests;
- Assist the Finance Manager on year end accounting functions in a timely fashion;
- Assist in completing the annual budget process and undertake initial reviews of submissions from service companies;
- Assist in reviewing project feasibilities and appraisals;
- Develop financial models for project appraisals, and undertake post project implementation reviews;
The requirements
- University degree in finance, accounting or related field
- Intermediate level qualification of a recognised professional accountancy body e.g qualified AAT or intermediate level qualification of CA, CIMA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent
- 3-5 years of experience in a financial position in a busy NGO, or commercial international organisation
- Financial modelling skills using Excel or similar software
- Computer literacy and familiarity with accounting and/or ERP systems. Experience in using IScala will be an advantage.
- Total fluency in written and spoken English and French.
- Knowledge of one or more of the local languages (Dari and Farsi) would be an advantage
- Analytical skills
