2. ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND:
Seva Mandir is a respected, grassroots, Indian non-profit organization, focused on improving the quality of life of 360,000 persons in 700 villages of southern Rajasthan. More than 90% of the population in this area relies on subsistence agriculture and consequently subsists on less than Rs. 20 per day.

Over the past 45 years, Seva Mandir has implemented a number of governance, health, education, sustainable use of natural resources, women’s empowerment, youth development, child care and social enterprise programmes, to improve the material well-being and build stronger and more resilient communities in this area. Seva Mandir follows an integrated approach to help communities rediscover their abilities to improve their lives.

About Natural Resources Development (NRD) Programme:
Seva Mandir's work area is characterized by a semi-arid climate, an erratic monsoon pattern, and the rugged landscape of the Aravalli range. The local population is largely dependent on natural resources for their livelihood. The widespread degradation of natural resources in the area has led to the weakening of the livelihood base of the rural poor and also enfeebled the solidarity of the people.
Seva Mandir’s NRD Programme has the following three main objectives:
(1) Ecological restoration, with focus on the development of common land;
(2) Regenerating Natural Resource based livelihood;
(3) Building community institutions for management and sustainability.
3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Chief Executive, the Program In-Charge shall be responsible for independently managing the NRD Programme.
The post-holder must possess technical expertise in the above-mentioned three areas, apart from managerial experience and the ability to lead and mentor a multi-disciplinary team.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
(1) Managing and delivering the NRD Programme in 600 villages across Southern Rajasthan;
(2) Guiding and motivating a team of young professionals and experienced grassroot workers for achieving the same;
(3) Ensuring quality and coherence in the achievement of programme targets;
(4) Facilitating meaningful partnerships with government functionaries, other NGO’s and private service providers;
(5) Assisting the Chief Executive in raising funds for the programme by helping write proposals, donor reports, organizing donor visits and ensuring high quality M&E data on the programme.
4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:
Qualifications:
Applicants must be postgraduates in Rural or Forest Management, or have a Masters’ in Agriculture, Environmental Science, Ecological Science, Economics, Social Sciences, or other relevant discipline.
Experience:
Candidates must have a minimum of 10 years of experience in the development sector, with reputed organizations. Grassroots experience of working with the rural poor in livelihoods based on Natural Resource Management is essential.
Skills and Competencies:
(1) Strong focus on managerial achievement and strong interest in and passion for coaching or mentoring others;
(2) Exceptional analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills;
(3) Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment;
(4) Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills;
(5) Comfortable travelling to rural/ remote locations;
(6) Excellent communication skills;
(7) Ability to multi-task and exhibit meticulous planning skills.
5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:
Gross compensation budgeted for the position is attractive and includes benefits such as subsidized accommodation, health and accident insurance, travel allowance and provident fund. The actual offer made to the selected candidate shall be commensurate with qualifications, experience and salary history.
