PACS is looking for an exceptional individual to manage its communications for the programme. The role holder will manage a Communications Manager and Web Content Manager, along with any external agencies and consultants.
Role purpose and decision making domains
The post holder is expected to lead and deliver effective communications aligned to the objectives of the PACS programme. The role will develop and deliver strategic communications initiatives and campaigns that champion inclusion and challenge discrimination. The incumbent will play a key role in identifying and engaging with stakeholders from civil society, media, government and academia.

A Civil Society Campaign Against Declining Child Sex Ratio anchored by the National Foundation for India (NFI) is seeking to appoint a Research & Documentation Manager for its national level Secretariat in New Delhi.

The Campaign seeks to provide a larger platform for many campaign groups, media, youth and parliamentarians to collectively deliberate and act. This position would be located in a national level secretariat which would be responsible for the facilitation and coordination of the Civil Society Campaign.

Position - Research & Documentation Manager

The Campaign is looking for a Research & Documentation Manager who can plan, design, formulate, implement and manage research studies including action research. S/he is expected to contribute to various processes, help the team in reviewing and analyzing policies, schemes, program and legislation. In addition the person would be responsible for writing reports and short articles. The candidate will also be expected to integrate the research work into other campaign elements and strategies.

Duties and Accountabilities• Preparing and maintaining a web editorial calendar in coordination with regional, country and corporate communications staff.
• Working with country units in writing content or commissioning specific content to be written by online writers or staff elsewhere in the region and selecting content for translation.

India HIV/AIDS Alliance (Alliance India) is a diverse partnership that brings together committed organisations and communities to support sustained responses to HIV in India. Complementing the Indian national programme, we work through capacity building, knowledge sharing, technical support and advocacy. Through our network of partners, we support the delivery of effective, innovative, community-based HIV programmes to key populations affected by the epidemic. 

Alliance India works through NGO and CBO partners to support efforts that have a sustainable impact on HIV. We place communities at the center and work to ensure that vulnerable and marginalised people are meaningfully involved in all aspects of our response, including sex workers, men who have sex with men (MSM), transgenders, injecting drug users (IDUs) and people living with HIV. Our programming and policy efforts are driven by evidence of what works; quality and accountability are core priorities in our interventions, technical support and grant management.

Summary of Responsibilities: 

The Communications Associate will be responsible for producing documents and publications across Alliance India’s programmes in order to disseminate lessons learned; to promote best practise and broaden the response to HIV programming. This includes the assessment of documentation/publication needs of programmes of Alliance India and their partner NGOs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure effective documentation of programme activities, in order to disseminate lessons learned and best practise and raise awareness of Alliance India’s activities.
- Document programme learning through case studies, policy/ issue briefs, and evidence based research and other methodologies;
- Document innovative approaches in project implementation, with a particular focus on community driven mechanisms and programming for key populations;
- Identify new issues and methods for effective documentation to maximise the impact of our policy and programme work;
- Support the development of Alliance India communications by providing documentation to aid the production of various communication collaterals.

• Manage publication needs of the organisation.
- Collaborate with programme managers, strategic information team and other departments to generate content for various publications;
- Prepare advocacy material and policy briefs;
- Editing content and checking material to ensure it is accurate and original;
- Manage, develop communication briefs and relationships with external design and print institutions and assist in designing and production of resource documents and materials;
- Rewrite or modify copy to conform to organisational publication style and editorial policy;
- Work on publication design and coordinate with graphic designer;
- Manage vendor relationships to ensure timeliness, product quality, and best pricing; 
- Constantly interact and keep abreast with all programmes within Alliance India;
- Proactively track progress of publication plan-related tasks, providing internal updates where necessary;
- Oversee distribution, dissemination and promotion of all publications; 
- Maintain an archive of electronic publications and an inventory of print publications and send them out when requested. 
• Assist communications team update and maintain Alliance India and other programme websites.
• Keep abreast of current trends in design and publications, with special attention to electronic and social media influences, tools and techniques.
• As a member of the communications team, support other parts of the communication portfolio as needed.
• Work effectively and collaboratively as a member of the Technical Support department. 

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES: 

Qualifications:

Applicants must have a Master’s degree in communications, social sciences, health or development field (or equivalent) 

Experience:

At least three to four years of relevant experience in HIV or public health.

The position requires a strong commitment to HIV/AIDS and sexual and reproductive health and NGO activities in India, and a strong interest in and understanding of relevant issues.

Skills:

• Excellent editorial skills and experience in supporting production of publications.
• Experience of writing a variety of communication materials, including policy briefs and advocacy materials.
• Proven experience in designing and knowledge in using applications like Adobe Photoshop, etc.
• Excellent analytical and written skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.
• Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team as well as independently.
• Ability and willingness to undertake travel within India.
• Strong commitment to HIV/AIDS and sexual and reproductive health and rights.
• Fluent in English and Hindi.
