Two Year India Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) Training Programme New Delhi

1. ORGANIZATION/ PROGRAMME BACKGROUND:
The National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India in collaboration with the US Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Atlanta, Govt. of USA launched the Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) Training Programme, modeled on the US EIS programme for developing world-class, field  epidemiologists, in India, in 2012.
India EIS, is a two-year programme, focused on providing hands-on training in epidemiologic service to public health professionals. Trainees, called Officers, engage in outbreak investigation, designing and analyzing epidemiological studies, analysis and evaluation of surveillance data, scientific communication, and other activities in preparation for careers as field epidemiologists. India EIS Training Programme is aimed at preparing public health professionals in field epidemiology and leadership skills at district, state and national levels.

Enrollment in India Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) Programme


SEEKING APPLICATIONS FOR 2-YEAR INDIA EPIDEMIC INTELLIGENCE SERVICE (EIS) PROGRAMME

National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC)-Delhi, in collaboration with the US Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC), is currently hosting the India Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) Programme, modeled on the US EIS Programme. This is a joint venture between India and USA, aimed at preparing public health professionals for leadership positions at district, state and national levels. The India EIS Programme has been recognized by National Board of Examination (NBE) to appear for DNB Part 2 as per the laid down procedures.

Applications are invited for the enrolment of a minimum of 15 outstanding public health professionals for India EIS, commencing in September 2014 for a period of two years. Out of this, approximately a one month training would be at NCDC with other training opportunities offered throughout the training to fulfill prescribed core activities of learning, to acquire the needed skills of a practicing field epidemiologist.
