Investigations Trainer - International Justice Mission (IJM)

The Need
International Justice Mission (IJM) is seeking an Investigations Trainer for the National Interventions Program based out of IJM Delhi office. The Investigations Trainer is responsible for preparing and conducting investigations trainings for government officials and grass root NGOs. Qualified candidates must have good health and strong stamina. 

Responsibilities
• Identify NGOs qualified for bonded labour investigations training
• Assist NGOs in development of a bonded labour investigations team
• Develop and conduct investigations training, including training materials – focused on effective field investigation, right questioning, documentation of legal violations, safety and security etc
• Develop and conduct investigations leadership training, including appropriate training materials – focused on managing investigation team 
• Build centers of excellence for focused areas, such as child labour, migrant labour, etc
• Liaise with state actors, such as Anti-Human Trafficking Units, Police Academy etc; and development of joint working strategies
• Monitor the performance of partner NGOs and mentor them to achieve results 
• Review and update training materials regularly, ensuring alignment with global standards 

Advocate - International Justice Mission (IJM)

The Need
IJM is seeking a professional advocate to manage and litigate an active caseload of criminal cases throughout India. The successful candidate will research and write extensively on issues of procedure, evidence and substantive law, and train partners and other power actors on the Bonded Labour Act and Acts relevant to the work of IJM across the country. The position is based out of IJM Delhi Office and requires significant travel throughout India. 

Responsibilities
• Fully understand the laws and procedures related to Bonded Labour Abolition, Prevention of Trafficking, Prevention of atrocities against SC/ST , Inter-State Migration, Minimum Wages and other related ones; 
• Advice NGO partners on litigation strategies for each case;
• Lead the case, appear in courts and argue where required; 
• Train internal junior advocates and lawyers of NGO partners to assist the prosecution and support the needs of cases;
• Provide leadership in preparing written briefs, memoranda and arguments for various courts with well-researched authorities;
• Manage multiple cases in various jurisdictions simultaneously;
• Write research pieces and opinion pieces, and build a brand for the cause and the organization; 
• Initiate and attend regular meetings with government and police officials and with public prosecutors; Develop and maintain strong relationships with the bar across the country; 
• Create and provide training to other non-governmental organizations, prosecutors and police and government officials as required;
• Engage state authorities such as NALSA, NHRC, NMJDLR, NAC, Supreme Court Commissions etc. for such authorities to champion the cause of Bonded Labour; 
• Provide timely, concise and thorough written reports of all activities; Manage time and resources effectively;
• Maintain confidentiality of privileged and sensitive information;
• Comply with all laws and ethical cannons;
• Carry out an additional portfolio of assignments given by the Director.
