1. POSITION VACANT: Program Associate, Smile Train, New Delhi
2. ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND:
Smile Train India (SLTI) is a not-for-profit company registered under Section 25 of the Indian Companies Act of 1956 with exemption u/s 80G of the IT Act. SLTI is registered under FCRA and promoted by Smile Train Inc., the world’s largest charity exclusively devoted to the cause of helping poor children born with cleft lips and cleft palates in developing countries.

Smile Train has sponsored more than 500,000 surgeries across India since the year 2000. The organization has more than 164 treatment partners and helps more than 45,000 children in India, annually. The average cost per surgery is Rs. 19,000, and the program size is presently more than Rs. 100 crores per annum.

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting directly to the Vice President & Regional Director (South Asia), the Program Associate shall be responsible for providing programmatic and communications support to the organization, including the identification of priorities and strategically aligning them with their timelines. S/he shall also be responsible for program design and management of cross-functional, enterprise-wide initiatives and other strategic or administrative tasks, as necessary to support the Vice President & Regional Director (South Asia), from time-to-time.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
(1) Co-ordinate a variety of long-term, cross-functional projects and support research, analysis, and coordination of programmatic activities;
(2) Synthesize complex bodies of knowledge and information into clear, concise, and actionable summaries, with primary focus on data related to patients, surgeries and hospitals;
(3) Support the Vice President & Regional Director (South Asia) and senior management team members, in analyzing and identifying trends and serve as the internal and external focal point, for sharing information on behalf of the team;
(4) Support all active projects at SLTI, with responsibility for partner management, landscape research, logistics and event support;
(5) Assist the Program Team, as necessary, in planning and implementing meetings and events, including venue logistics, travel and facility logistics, state-level and high-level membership and annual events;
(6) Develop communications, presentations, papers and notes, by researching internal and external material for the purposes of Board meetings and various speaking engagements of the Vice President & Regional Director (South Asia) involving external audiences;
(7) Draft and/or edit sections of key documents, reports, and presentations for a variety of purposes and audiences, summarizing developments and recommendations for the Program Team and/or external partners;
(8) Assist with the preparation of project documents e.g. reports, project summaries, etc., and other written documents, as assigned;
(9) Draft issue-based and event briefing documents to inform STI executives and program leads, as necessary;
(10) Serve as primary liaison for providing necessary information for vendor payments and contracts, responding to funding requests and coordinating meetings and events;
(11) Assist with the coordination of outreach events, presentations, and initiatives and attend internal and external meetings, as needed;
(12) Manage internal systems of the Program Team by maintaining the program calendar, taking meeting notes, disseminating information and maintaining, as well as updating program development and evaluation systems, resources, and tools;
(13) Assist in program outreach efforts, including scheduling meetings with stakeholders;
(14) Track best practices in the field, and maintain a breadth of knowledge about current trends, emerging issues, policy interventions and innovations in Smile Train’s areas of focus.
4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:             
Qualifications:
The applicant must possess a Bachelor’s degree from a reputed institution.
Experience:
(1) Candidates must have a minimum of five years’ of progressively responsible experience in programmatic support, with reputed, well-managed organizations;
(2) Experience in co-ordinating a variety of long-term, cross-functional projects.
Skills and Competencies:
(1) Exceptional communication (written/verbal) and interpersonal skills;
(2) Strong organizational and project management skills;
(3) Strong administrative skills that reflect attention to detail, ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks and the ability to effectively maintain systems;
(4) Excellent written and oral communication skills, both in English and Hindi;
(5) Proactive, innovative and articulate, with good analytical skills;
(6) Ability to undertake diverse and complex assignments with minimal supervision and resolving competing demands on her/his time;
(7) Integrity, maturity and ability to exercise discretion and confidence in the execution of delicate tasks;
(8) Ability to anticipate the needs of the team and plan ahead;
(9) Ability to communicate and relate effectively;
(10) Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a contributing team member, with people at all levels within the organization;
(11) Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and web-based applications;
(12) Should be willing to travel periodically, based on the needs of the job.
5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:
Gross annual remuneration budgeted for the position ranges from Rs. 8 to 10 lacs per annum. Please note that offers shall be commensurate with the qualifications, experience and salary history of the selected candidate.
