2. ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND:
Railway Children is an international non-profit organisation, working since 1995 in the United Kingdom, India and East Africa, to create ‘a world where no child should ever have to live alone on the streets’. 

Railway Children strives for sustainable changes in the lives of children alone and at risk on the streets. Children living on the streets decide or are forced to leave home due to abuse, violence, neglect and poverty. While living on the street they are exposed to all forms of vulnerabilities, and even death.

Railway Children in India has functioned as the Liaison Office of the charity in the UK and more recently, as a Section 25 (now Section 8) company. Railway Children India was established as a not for profit (Section 8) company in 2013, to scale and sustain the impact of the work of the organization.

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
Purpose of the Post:
Railway Children India (RCI) wishes to recruit a senior fundraising professional to fill the key, strategic role of Fundraising Manager (FRM), based at Gurgaon, India.
Railway Children India has a current annual target to raise about Rs. 10 crores to support its operations. Additionally, there are special needs – Occasional Fund Raising drives to cover infrastructure and capital projects. The FRM is expected to enable RCI meet its resource requirements.
Reporting to the Country Director, the FRM shall be responsible for developing relationships, raising funds, meeting targets, network across corporate and charity sector.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
(A) Communication:
(1) RC mandate is to create awareness and sensitivity with all stake-holders including Civil Society, Government, Railway Department, Academia, Reseachers, Corporates, Lawmakers, other NGOs, railway passengers and young talent, the FRM will work with creative teams to make and distribute collaterals;
(2) Oversee quality, production and distribution of all communication and collaterals prepared by other Operations/ Program team to ensure consistent brand positioning;
(3) Improve and develop communication and collaterals for RCI – starting with RCI social media presence, digital assets and other collaterals such as brochures, newsletters, annual report, videos, posters, etc.
(B) Fundraising:
(1) Work with operations/ finance teams to prepare project/ annual budgets and marketing collaterals;
(2) Develop Marketing and Sales strategy and drive strong execution, action plans, build tools, templates and create SOPs for fund-raising processes within the organisation;
(3) Work with IT staff/ vendors to design, maintain Donor Relation Management database;
(4) Drive in-house/ outsource research identify funding opportunities. Research to find alternative strategy and resources for long-term sustainability of the organisation;
(5) Develop business plans to generate income from various other sources;
(6) Build personal contacts, network/ relationship with potential individual donors and raise funds for activities of the organisation.
(C) Management:
(1) Provide strong account management inputs to existing funders and supporters, ensure agreed benefits and impact is reported within timelines to ensure a sustainable and credible portfolio; 
(2) Be a visible, energetic, and inspiring leader, encouraging cross- team working and innovation;
(3) Develop strong and generative relationships with colleagues and trustees, ensure consistent communication, engagement and support of fundraising plans and initiatives;
(4) Work in coordination with and support UK fundraising team to achieve organisational targets;
(5) Engage the Country Director, Commercial Director and Board of Trustees in cultivating, soliciting and stewarding major prospective donors.
4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:        
Qualifications: 
MBA and/ or Post Graduate with Diploma/ Degree in Business Management (PGDBM), Marketing, Finance, Communication or other relevant discipline.
Experience: 
At least eight years of experience in developing relationships, raising funds, meeting targets, network across corporate and charity sector with a strong communication background.
Skills and Competencies:
(1) Strong proposal writing skills and experience of working with target driven business models (financial and/or impact); 
(2) Excellent communication skills;
(3) Strong influencing and negotiating skills;
(4) Alignment with core organisational beliefs of bravery, integrity, innovation and effectiveness; 
(5) Willingness to travel;
(6) Ability to work under pressure. 
5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:
Gross compensation budgeted for the position is attractive. Please note that the offer shall be commensurate with the qualifications, experience and salary history of the selected candidate.
