Headquartered at Seattle, WA-USA, SightLife is the only non-profit global health organization, focused solely on eliminating corneal blindness.
Working with surgeons in over 30 countries, SightLife and its Global Partners restore sight to more than 20 men, women, and children each day. This is accomplished through eye banks, which are centers for the recovery and placement of eye tissue used in cornea transplants.

SightLife’s mission is to eliminate corneal blindness globally, through partnerships with eye banks in developing countries, where 90% of the world’s 10 million persons, estimated to suffer from curable corneal blindness, live.
SightLife constituted a small team of senior management and distribution professionals in India in 2010 for this purpose and building on the organization’s global expertise, has successfully implemented a comprehensive program to support the development of eye banks and corneal surgeons, across India.

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to SightLife’s Director- Surgeon Training and working closely with SightLife’s Vice President of Asia, and other key global SightLife staff and subject matter experts, the Policy and Advocacy Manager shall be responsible for managing SightLife policy and advocacy work in India.
The incumbent shall be responsible for developing and implementing the policy and advocacy strategy in India. The policy and advocacy efforts will focus on improving the ecosystem for corneal donation and transplantation in India through the following:
1) Advocating for specific policy adoption at the ministry of health and state ministries; and
2) Building long term trusting relationships with all key decision makers and stakeholders including government officials, surgeons, eye hospitals and other NGOs.
Key Job Responsibilities:
(1) Develop and lead strategy for policy & advocacy at national and state level in India;
(2) Lead research and data analysis for landscape assessments related to policy and advocacy interventions;
(3) Drive institution of regulations favorable to the eye bank and transplant ecosystem at country and state level;
(4) Collaborate and manage key relationships with state and national government ministers, health secretaries, DME, associations, surgeons and other key opinion leaders both inside and outside of ophthalmology;
(5) Develop coalitions to support the adoption of specific policies;
(6) Work with eye bank partners to identify and implement key regulatory and policy requirements to establish a healthy ecosystem for cornea recovery, processing, transplants and follow up care;
(7) Conduct research and prepare background information for advocacy, decisions, meetings, and other outreach;
(8) Provide support services to the Medical Advisory Board/Committee, including meeting preparation, logistics, communications and follow-up. Identify key topics and organize meeting within MD community to help standardize medical practices across eye banks;
(9) Perform other duties as assigned in support of the work of the organization.
4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:
Qualification:
The applicant must possess a Masters in Business Administration (MBA), or Public Health (MPH), or other relevant professional qualification, from a top notch, premier institute.
Experience:
(1) Minimum eight to ten years of progressive experience of driving policy in the health sector;
(2) Minimum five years of progressive experience in building multi-tiered relationships within the health ministry at the national level and in various states;
(3) Experience in successfully building and maintaining multi-tiered relationships with ministry officials and staff;
(4) Experience in demographic data collection and analysis.
Skills and Attributes: 
(1) Working knowledge of India regulatory environment and stakeholders;
(2) Excellent communication skills in English and Hindi is essential. Knowledge of a third language shall be an advantage;
(3) Exceptional verbal, written, analytical, presentation, customer service and interpersonal skills;
(4) Ability to have patience and persistence while thinking quickly on feet;
(5) Ability to meet deadlines and accurately attend to details in high pressure situations;
(6) Excellent planning, time management, decision-making and organization skills;
(7) Self-motivated team player with desire and ability to learn rapidly;
(8) Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments with minimal supervision;
(9) Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Ability to use basic PCs, standard desktop software, Web meeting applications/ Virtual PC software and stay current with relevant technology and innovation;
(10) Commitment to the cause of corneal donation;
(11) High personal integrity and ethics;
(12) Ability to work late nights and weekends on periodic basis, as a participant in global meetings in different time zones;
(13) Ability to travel 30% of the time, sometimes on short-notice.
5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:
Gross compensation budgeted for the position is attractive. The offer made to the selected candidate shall be commensurate with qualifications, experience and salary history.
