1. POSITION VACANT: Head of Project (HOP), Confidential, Mumbai

2. ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND:

Our client comprises a consortium of partners, supporting a high impact RMNCH+A project in selected high-burden states across the country. Partners include a bilateral, a respected international donor, leading international and national foundations, MoHFW and State Health Departments.

3. JOB SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Project Management Committee, the HOP shall be responsible for providing leadership support to steer the project to maximum impact at the health facility level in the identified states and help save at least 250k child lives.

S/he shall also liaise with international and national organizations to promote cooperation and synergy between other ongoing health initiatives and scale-up the project.

4. KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

(1) Decrease maternal and child mortality in high burden states;
(2) Provide support for the implementation of high impact interventions at the health facility level in the selected states keeping in mind the various guidelines issued by the MoHFW under RMNCH+A, to operationalize facilities which may presently be underutilized;
(3) Introduce various models and management approaches relevant to the needs of the facilities to operationalize and improve the quality of services offered;
(4) Closely monitor the initial performance and trajectory of newly introduced models that can be scaled up and further referenced for other facilities;
(5) Identify successful models/ solutions that have been implemented and advocate these to the government, supporting their integration into the public health system and sustainability in future.
(6) Share success stories to encourage additional partners to support the project and further accelerate the pace and scale of the initiative.

5. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

Qualification:
Applicants must have an advanced university degree in public health, medicine, social sciences or related field.

Experience:
(1) 10 years of experience in managing complex maternal and child health projects, of which at least three years must be in a leadership or advisory role;
(2) Prior experience of working on RMNCH+A issues at the state level;
(3) Experience in managing key health related projects with multiple partners;
(4) Strong exposure to providing high level technical assistance, policy formulation, strategy development, and evidence-based program design in the area of RMNCH+A;
(5) Prior experience of working in collaboration with senior government health officials.

Skills and Competencies:
(1) Demonstrated project management skills in a highly mission oriented set up;
(2) Fluency in verbal and written English;
(3) Highly skilled in writing reports, technical documents and new project proposals;
(4) Demonstrated ability to interact with stakeholders at the policy and implementation level and work harmoniously in multifaceted teams, handling pressures and meeting deadlines.

6. PROFESSIONAL FEES:

Gross compensation budgeted for the position is Rs. 30 - 35 lacs per annum but shall not be a constraint for the right candidate. The offer made to the selected candidate shall be commensurate with qualifications, experience and salary history.
