For more information, visit www.ifc.org.IFC’s Infrastructure and National Resources Department is recruiting a senior investment professional to join IFC’s infrastructure investment team covering South Asia (CSA). The person’s primary country focus will be India, but she/he will likely work also on Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka.Her/his primary sector of focus will be the power sector, covering existing and potential opportunities in generation, transmission and distribution. The selected candidate will be a key member of the CSA infrastructure team, based in New Delhi, and work with colleagues globally. The selected candidate will be expected to: leverage her/his existing networks and/or build new ones to originate new business; manage relationships with private sector clients as well as public sector and development partner counterparts; lead teams to structure, negotiate and manage debt and equity investments; and develop junior staff. Travel across the region will be required accordingly.Note: If the selected candidate is a current Bank Group staff member with a Regular or Open-Ended appointment, s/he will retain his/her Regular or Open-Ended appointment. All others will be offered a 3 year term appointment.
DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • A thorough understanding of relevant infrastructure subsectors.
  • Develop a strong pipeline of infrastructure investment partners and opportunities.
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams in evaluating, structuring, negotiating, and managing debt, mezzanine and equity investments
  • Manage portfolio exposures to optimize IFC value addition, secure timely repayment of loans and strong exits on equity investments.
  • Coach and develop junior investment staff.
  • Collaborate in developing sector and/or regional strategies.
SELECTION CRITERIA:

  • At least 8-10 years of relevant professional experience with focus on the power sector.
  • Well-developed network among financial and strategic investors and financiers. Strong business development and client relationship skills, track record and ability to focus on clients’ needs effectively and identify potential partners.
  • Proven track record of sourcing, structuring and closing debt and potentially also equity/mezzanine transactions.
  • Knowledge of overall industry sector trends, experience in emerging markets, ideally in Asia region.
  • Excellent client relationship, origination, financial and analytical skills
  • Ability to work in multicultural teams and on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to interact effectively with clients and colleagues from various cultural backgrounds.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, openness to feedback and new ideas, solutions oriented thinking.
  • Written and spoken language fluency in English required. Russian language skills are a plus but not required.
  • Advanced degree required, preferably an MBA or master of finance or equivalent field.
