Social Mobilization Coordinators - SAMS (TCV Project Managed by WHO India, CDC and Stanford University, USA)

1. POSITION VACANT: Social Mobilization Coordinators (2 Vacancies), Navi Mumbai, SAMS (TCV Project Managed by WHO India, CDC USA and Stanford University, USA).
2. PROJECT BACKGROUND:
The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) is introducing Typhoid Conjugate Vaccine (TCV) in its routine immunisation (RI) programme, commencing with phased vaccination programme from 2018 onwards. Introduction of TCV will provide an opportunity to estimate the burden of typhoid in NMMC and evaluate the effectiveness of the vaccine in public health settings.

WHO India in collaboration with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Stanford University, USA, proposes to conduct a study following introduction of TCV in Navi Mumbai, to estimate the burden of typhoid in and evaluate the effectiveness of the vaccine in public health settings.
Systematic health facility-based, prospective surveillance is being established at multiple hospitals in Navi Mumbai to provide relevant epidemiological data. Data on TCV introduction, community-level acceptability, vaccine program effectiveness, economic benefits, vaccine safety and impact will also be collected and analysed. The findings will be important for integration and sustained use of TCV through the routine immunization program.
WHO India is providing oversight to field implementation, and the activities will be done in collaboration with National Institute of Cholera and Enteric Disease (NICED), Kolkata, under the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR, Government of India), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), USA and Stanford University, USA.
The study is expected to commence in July 2018.
3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
Key Responsibilities
(1) Support TCV research team in day-to-day communication-related issues for planning for TCV introduction in Navi Mumbai.
(2) Participate in TCV introduction campaign planning and coordination meetings.
(3) Complete draft risk communication strategy for TCV introduction campaign.
(4) Develop and complete social mobilization plan for TCV introduction campaign (messages, audiences, specific activities, timelines, persons responsible, reporting/monitoring outputs).
(5) Coordinate the timely development of IEC materials at WHO India country office, local printing and distribution to appropriate communication focal points in Navi Mumbai.
(6) Coordinate with NMMC, partners and UHP communication focal points for the TCV campaign on planning and rolling out launch event, social mobilization and communication activities (can include meetings, community events, distributing IEC materials, planned media coverage).
(7) During the campaign, troubleshooting communication and demand issues and supporting response to vaccine related events.
(8) After the campaign, develop post-campaign report (overview of communication strategies and activities, campaign rollout, any vaccine related events experienced, responses, lessons learned, and recommendations for phase II).

4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:
Qualifications:
Applicants must be graduates from a recognized and accredited educational institution.
Experience: 
(1) Familiar with NMMC and health system, especially immunization system.
(2) Familiar with TCV or other new vaccine introductions or immunization campaigns.
(3) Experience in health promotion/ communication, conducting qualitative research (focus group discussions, in depth interviews), community engagement activity planning and stakeholder engagement.
(4) Strong communication skills, including developing communications materials and products for different audiences.
(5) Applicants must be proficient in spoken and written Marathi, Hindi and English.
5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:
Gross compensation of Rs. 45,000/- per month, on an all-inclusive basis, has been budgeted for the position.
6. LOCATION: Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra.
7. CONTRACT: The selected candidate shall be offered a one-year contract, renewable based on performance. (Please note that the TCV Project has been approved for a period of two years).
The contract shall be issued by SAMS, a respected HR agency, under third party outsourcing arrangements with WHO India.
