Field Data Collectors – Continuous Survey - SAMS (TCV Project Managed by WHO India, CDC and Stanford University, USA)

1. POSITION VACANT: Field Data Collectors – Continuous Survey (FDCCS), Navi Mumbai, SAMS (TCV Project Managed by WHO India, CDC USA and Stanford University, USA) (Seven Vacancies).
2. PROJECT BACKGROUND:
The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) is introducing Typhoid Conjugate Vaccine (TCV) in its routine immunisation (RI) programme, commencing with phased vaccination programme from 2018 onwards. Introduction of TCV will provide an opportunity to estimate the burden of typhoid in NMMC and evaluate the effectiveness of the vaccine in public health settings.

WHO India in collaboration with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Stanford University, USA, proposes to conduct a study following introduction of TCV in Navi Mumbai, to estimate the burden of typhoid in and evaluate the effectiveness of the vaccine in public health settings.
Systematic health facility-based, prospective surveillance is being established at multiple hospitals in Navi Mumbai to provide relevant epidemiological data. Data on TCV introduction, community-level acceptability, vaccine program effectiveness, economic benefits, vaccine safety and impact will also be collected and analysed. The findings will be important for integration and sustained use of TCV through the routine immunization program.
WHO India is providing oversight to field implementation, and the activities will be done in collaboration with National Institute of Cholera and Enteric Disease (NICED), Kolkata, under the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR, Government of India), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), USA and Stanford University, USA.
The study is expected to commence in July 2018.
3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
Key Responsibilities
FDCCSs shall report to the Field Coordinator and Data Manager and be responsible for the following activities:
(1) Participate in trainings for the survey.
(2) Map each selected primary sampling unit (PSU) using tablets with GPS coordinates within acceptable precision based on the tablet hardware in advance of the household data collection to facilitate random sampling of households. Mapping has to be done in advance, so that data collection can be planned.
(3) Coordinate with local ANM or ASHA worker to identify the boundaries of the Urban Health Post Areas.
(4) Conduct mobile data collection for survey in adherence to study design as per research protocol, SOPs and trainings.
(5) Participate in daily meetings with the survey supervisors to review enrolment details or any issues with enrolment.
(6) Upload data directly from devices to the server in real time as network connectivity permits or, at a minimum, each day for review by investigators; ensure no pending data submissions remain on the devices at the conclusion of each day.
(7) Ensure that informed consent is properly obtained from participants in all required instances.
(8) Keep the confidentiality of survey related activities and findings.
Key Deliverables
(1) Participate in trainings and refresher trainings.
(2) Provide weekly updates to the site investigators and field coordinator/deputy field coordinator on enrolment and any issues related to enrolment.
(3) Provide a monthly report on activities and duties performed.
4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:
Qualifications:
Applicants must be graduates from a recognized and accredited educational institution.
Experience: 
(1) Familiar with the use of mobile data collection.
(2) Applicants must be proficient in spoken and written Marathi, Hindi and English.
5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:
Gross compensation of Rs. 25,000/- per month, on an all-inclusive basis, has been budgeted for the position.
6. LOCATION: Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra (Seven Vacancies).
7. CONTRACT: The selected candidate shall be offered a one-year contract renewable based on performance. (Please note that the TCV Project has been approved for a period of two years.
The contract shall be issued by SAMS, a respected HR agency, under third party outsourcing arrangements with WHO India.
