Kusuma Foundation (KF) is registered under Section 8 of the Company’s Act, 2013. It works to support and implement programmes of national importance on Secondary Education in India. It implements and learns from its programmes in districts of Sambalpur, Odisha and Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh to develop scalable and effective models for improving secondary education. Kusuma Foundation is funded and supported by Kusuma Trust UK. KF works in partnership with Secondary schools (112 in Hardoi and 187 in Sambalpur) to implement its programmes. It has established Kusuma Resource Centre and twoKusuma Satellite Centres in each district, which offer free access to educational resources including books, audiovisual materials and computers with internet connectivity.

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Country leader (CL), the MIS Manager shall be responsible for establishing and managing the Management Information System (MIS), generating regular reports and analysis on agreed indicators to track programme progress, training staff on use of the MIS and donor reporting. 
The incumbent shall be liaising with Kusuma Foundation & Kusuma Trust UK staff, State and district education departments and Kusuma Partner Schools.
Key Job Responsibilities:
(A) Management Information System
(1) Manage development of an effective MIS for Kusuma programmes;
(2) Manage transfer/migration of existing programme data to MIS;
(3) Maintain regular contact with the technical partner developing the MIS, lead the testing of the software and ensure that it is operational and fit for purpose;
(4) Lead the development of processes and forms for data collection and analysis for MIS with support from RAs based in districts in collaboration with Head of Research, KTUK;
(5) Ensure the MIS is regularly updated as per agreed protocols and schedule;
(6) Plan and manage data collection and entry for large sets of data e.g. student pass rate data;
(7) Plan and conduct regular quality checks and data validation exercises to ensure accuracy and authenticity of data and improve data collection and reporting processes.
(B) Monitoring and Reporting
(1) Develop formats for standard reports and ensure agreed data collection, verification and entry protocols are followed;
(2) Undertake analysis and generate reports as per programme and reporting requirements. Report key highlights, trends, implications and concerns with CL, SPM and programme team in KF and Head of Research and Head of Programmes KTUK to inform programme interventions and advocacy;
(3) Undertake regular visits to State offices and schools for monitoring the quality and process of data collection, facilitating fieldwork for independent studies, administering quality checks;
(4) Facilitate and deliver training on how to use MIS.
(C) Key Relationships
(1) Work closely with SPM, Programme Specialists, State Managers, Programme Officers, RAs, Programme Support Manager and Finance Manager as part of a mutually supportive team;
(2) Maintain regular contact and dialogue with technical agencies and partners to co-ordinate monitoring and analysis activities;
(3) With guidance from CL, work closely with Head of Research and Head of Programmes, Kusuma Trust UK.
4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES: 
Qualification: 
Applicants must have a Masters degree in Statistics, Demographics, Economics, Social Sciences, International Development or a related field.
Experience: 
Minimum five years work experience in a programme monitoring and evaluation, with at least two years experience in education related programmes.
Skills and Competencies:
Essential
(1 High-level data collation and analysis skills including multivariate analysis using software;
(2) Experience of developing and handling a Management Information System for an organisation;
(3) Strong interpersonal and networking skills specially with programme monitoring units and department of education in Kusuma focus states;
(4) Excellent knowledge of Internet & Microsoft Office;
(5) Willingness to work flexibly, travel regularly, patience and a sense of humour;
(6) Excellent negotiation and diplomacy skills;
(7) Excellent knowledge of English (written and spoken).
Desirable
(1) PhD in a relevant subject;
(2) Knowledge of Randomised Evaluation, Quasi-Experimental Designs and Sampling;
(3) Knowledge of Hindi and Oriya; 
(4) Empathy with Kusuma’s mission and priorities;
(5) A sense of humour and patience.
5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:
The gross remuneration budgeted for the position is attractive. Offers shall be commensurate with the qualifications, experience and salary history, of the selected candidate.

The selected candidate shall be offered a one year contract, renewable based on performance.
