The Opportunity 

We are looking for a Senior Advisor - Health to implement the Rio Tinto Health processes and systems within region of accountability and provide support and expertise to the operation.

What the role entails 

This role is a great opportunity for an experienced individual to undertake the treatment and management of workplace stressor impacts such as injury, illness or wellbeing impairment. Working a 5 days on, 2 days off roster and reporting to the Principal Advisor - Occupational Health, HSEC Health, you will be:

  • Developing and implementing technical training programmes and solutions to improve health standards across the workforce
  • Designing and managing the occupational health and hygiene programme
  • Reviewing health exposures/medical surveillance and current status whilst ensuring data quality and integrity.
  • Ensuring compliance to statutory requirements, company policies and practices with regards to health standards
  • Conducting health audits and/or pre-audits on a regular basis and addressing issues appropriately
  • Actively advising the HSE management team of critical issues and recommends interactions which will contribute to alleviating health risks

What you will need for this role 

To succeed in this role, you will have:
  • A qualification in medicine (Physician)
  • 5 to 8 years of relevant experience (including some years in mining or oil & gas or construction industries)
  • Exposure to Health quality assurance through the audit process
  • Experience at implementing comprehensive management programs for workplace / work environment health hazards (physical, chemical, biological, ergonomic and psychosocial agents) with focus on medical surveillance
  • Experience in Establishment of health systems and standards in a large commercial organisation

It will also be beneficial if you have:
  • A qualification in M.Sc. degree in Occupational Health / Occupational Medicine and/or a medical specialty in Occupational Medicine, Labor Medicine or similar
  • Experience working with research and university institutions
  • Exposure in managing enhancement and improvement projects
  • Experience with social responsibility or community programs might be taken into account too
