1. POSITION VACANT: Laboratory Technician, KGMU UP Community Eye Bank, SightLife
Partnership, Lucknow
2. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting
to Manager of Eye Bank Operations,
the Laboratory Technician shall be responsible for completion of
daily tissue evaluation and distribution tasks, routine cornea tissue
pre-cutting for transplant and research, and quality control in a manner that
maintains and improves eye bank relationships with local, national, and
international stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
(1)
Tissue evaluation, distribution and completion of daily work flow, including
prioritizing tissue evaluation, shipments and preparation.;
(2) Perform all routine aspects of tissue distribution, tissue evaluation, tissue processing, and quality assurance to maximize the gift of donation;
(3) Efficiently and accurately provide tissue for pre-cut needs or routine transplant needs
(4) QC review of related data entry and tasks;
(5) Oversee laboratory maintenance and quality control, including monitoring inventory and ordering of all critical supplies and ensure that all laboratory equipment is used, maintained and serviced according to Eye Bank standards and manufacturer recommendations
(6) Ensure all quality standards are met prior to distribution (Eye Bank Association of India and SightLifeQuality Standards);
(7) Must be able to work long hours, nights, and weekends when needed;
(8) Perform other projects and duties as assigned;
(9) In all daily activities, strive to support the Mission, Vision, and Values of the Eye Bank.

3. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:
Qualification:
(1) Bachelor Degree; OR
(2) Diploma in Medical Lab Technology: OR
(3) Relevant hospital/ laboratory experience.

Skills and Attributes:
(1) Excellent communication skills, with fluency in English and Hindi;
(2) Proficient in computers covering email, spreadsheet, online data-filling, etc.;
(3) Passionate and affirmation of intent to be an Organ/ Tissue/ Eye donor;
(5) Unquestionable ethics and integrity;
(6) Willing to work nights, weekends and on-call as required by operational needs.
(7) Willing to travel within India for training approximately two weeks per year.

4. COMPENSATION OFFERED:
Gross
compensation for the position is attractive. The offer made to the selected
candidate shall be commensurate with qualifications, experience and salary
history.
5. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
The
selected candidate shall initially be offered a one-year consultancy contract
under the third party payroll of ThinkTank. The contract is renewable annually,
based on performance.

implemented a comprehensive program to support the development of eye banks and
corneal surgeons, across India.

which has already begun to beneficially impact millions of Indians suffering
from reversible blindness.
