1. POSITION VACANT: Manager – Finance, Accounts and Administration (MFAA), Smile Train India, New Delhi
2BACKGROUND:
Smile Train India is a not-for-profit company registered under Section 25 of the Indian Companies Act of1956 with exemption u/s 80G of the IT Act. It is also registered under FCRA and is promoted by Smile Train Inc., the world’s largest charity exclusively devoted to the cause of helping poor children born with cleft lips and cleft palates in developing countries.
Smile Train has sponsored more than 450,000 surgeries across India since the year 2000. The organization has approx. 180 treatment partners and helps more than 50,000 children in India, annually. At approx. Rs. 18,000/- per surgery, program size is presently more than Rs. 100 crores per annum.

Smile Train India wishes to recruit an outstanding finance and accounts professional, to coordinate all financial, legal and administrative matters relating to its programs in India.
3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
The job-holder shall report administratively to the Vice President and Regional Director, South Asia and functionally to the Vice President, Comptroller at the worldwide headquarters in New York, USA.
Key Job Responsibilities:
(1) Ensuring complete and timely compliance with all statutory requirements and obligations under the Foreign Contributions (Regulation) Act 2010, Indian Companies Act 2013 and the Income Tax Act 1961;
(2) Organizing Board Meetings, preparing agendas and resolutions record and maintaining minutes;
(3) Maintaining all books of accounts viz., Cash Book, Ledger and Journal;
(4) Managing the treasury function, keeping track of cash flows, bank balances and in consultation with the HQ, ensuring surplus cash is suitably invested in zero-risk short term deposits; 
(5) Managing payroll for all India-based staff, including deduction of TDS, depositing it with the treasury, filing Quarterly Returns and issuing Deduction Certificates to all employees; 
(6) Liaising with various statutory bodies like the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Ministry of Home Affairs and Income Tax Department; 
(7) Continually tracking changes in rules impacting operations in India, keeping managements in India and the HQ apprised and initiating appropriate action, as necessary;
(7) Liaising with banks, auditors and donors;
(8) Maintaining regular contact with the HQ, keeping them fully informed at all times;
(9) Supporting the preparation and submission of proposals to institutional donors. Also overseeing the preparation and submission of periodic donor reports, as necessary, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements and conditionalities, as applicable; 
(10) Participating and/or conducting detailed financial assessment of the suitability of grantees and/or partners, for working on Smile Train India projects;   
(11) Undertaking special financial and/or accounting assignments for the organization, such as improved cost effectiveness, forecasting and funding scenario development, etc.; 
(12) Overseeing the day-to-day administration of the Smile Train India office.
The job requires a hands-on person willing to work with minimal support. The post holder is likely to be significantly engaged with administrative and coordinating responsibilities.
4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:
Qualification:
(1) Applicants must have a Masters’ in Commerce/ Finance/ Accounts, or equivalent;
(2) Candidates having a professional qualification in accounts such as CA/ CS/ ICWA/ ICMA, or equivalent, will be at an advantage.
Experience:
(1) Applicants must have at least 15 years of relevant experience, as above, with reputed organizations;
(2) Prior experience with the not-for-profit sector, shall be an advantage;
(3) Outstanding senior applicants, who are close to retirement, or have recently retired, are welcome to apply.
Skills and Competencies:
(1) Thorough familiarity with statutory requirements including FCRA, FEMA, RBI Rules and banking practices;
(2) Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision;
(3) Commitment to accuracy, attention to detail and follow through;
(4) Good interpersonal skills, especially listening skills and experience in managing relationships with diverse stakeholders (Board, donors, team members across the hierarchy);
(5) Strong analytical skills;
(6) Proficiency in Tally or other standard accounting packages;
(7) Expertise in the use of MS Excel;
(8) A sincere commitment to the cause of helping children and a strong identification with Smile Train’smission and goals.
5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:
Smile Train is a very demanding organization in terms of performance and deliverables and believes in rewarding its people well.
The gross remuneration budgeted for the position is between Rs. 12-18 lacs per annum. Offers shall be commensurate with the qualifications, experience and salary history of the selected candidate.
