2. ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND:
Organization for Sustainable Communities (OSC) is a Section 8 Company and a fully owned, non-profit subsidiary of the Institute for Sustainable Communities (ISC), Vermont, USA, whose mission is to help communities address environmental, economic, and social challenges, to build a better future shaped and shared by all.
OSC is executing projects directly in Maharashtra and through partnerships across the country. The organisation is in the process of applying for FCRA registration.

About Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS+) Centers:
ISC has established EHS+ Centers in China, Bangladesh to provide factory managers with information and tools to improve environment, health and safety conditions for workers, as well as the community living in proximity to their factories. The training and information provided by the EHS+ Centers focuses on increasing resource efficiency, enhancing gender equity and empowerment, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
EHS+ Network is a global partnership that connects EHS+ Centers in China, Bangladesh and India. Factory managers in each of these countries interact, learn and share ideas on improving the sustainability of supply chains throughout Asia.
3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Program Officer, the Program Assistant shall be responsible for conducting desk research, developing materials, collecting and managing data and supporting the implementation of OSC’s EHS+ Center project activities, to help industries across India implement sustainable manufacturing practices by specifically focusing on environmental health, worker health and safety, energy management and resource efficiency.
The incumbent shall also be responsible for supporting and coordinating curriculum development activities. S/he will work with EHS+ Center staff and external trainers specifically, to support the design and roll-out of new courses, as well as oversee the coordination of a series of workshops on various EHS and Energy topics. S/he will also work with relevant Centers and OSC staff such as M&E OfficerTrainer and Curriculum Development Specialist and Communications and Outreach Officer, to ensure compliance with internal and external stakeholder regulations and expectations, donor procedures and protocols on all project aspects such as monitoring and evaluation, donor reporting and communication activities.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
(1) Develop work plans, training calendar and progress reports as required by EHS+ CentersOSC, donors and other partners;
(2) Facilitate and coordinate training programs and complete required processes and documentation;
(3) Compile and analyse of pre and post training learning by trainees;
(4) Conduct post training interviews of trainees (within 45-60 days of completion of training);
(5) Track and monitor the factory engagement training and technical assistances;
(6) Assist in developing and implementing tools and instruments for outcome of monitoring and impact evaluation;
(7) Liaise and coordinate with industry associations/ implementing partners;
(8) Document case studies on changes /measures adopted by factories as well as trainees;
(9) Create a database of factories for industry sectors identified for potential engagement;
(10) Update the EHS+ Center digital platform (website) activities and events;
(11) Manage partner relationships with industry associations/ implementation partners for the smooth functioning of EHS+ Centers;
(12) Prepare monitoring and evaluation templates and tools in coordination with the M&E Officer;
(13) Collect monitoring and evaluation data (from training and events) of EHS+ Centers;
(14) Undertake data analysis and compilation of reports for management decision-making and submission to donors.
4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:
Qualifications:
(1) The applicant must possess a degree in Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, or a related field;
(2) Masters’ degree shall be preferred.
Experience:
(1) A minimum of two years of experience in supporting project management;
(2) Prior experience of working in the industrial sector is preferred, but absence of the same shall not be a constraint for the right candidate.
Skills and Competencies:
(1) Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills;
(2) Capacity to stay organized and juggle multiple priorities in a fast-moving, dynamic project environment;
(3) Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and strategic planning skills;
(4) Strong oral and written communication skills in English and Hindi;
(5) Should be open to visiting factory sites and travel based on the needs of the project.
5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:
The gross remuneration budgeted for the position is attractive. Offers shall be commensurate with the qualifications, experience and salary history, of the selected candidate.
