1. POSITION VACANT: Program Officer- Energy Efficiency, Institute for Sustainable Communities, based at Delhi, or Mumbai, or Pune

Founded in 1991, the Institute for Sustainable Communities (ISC) is an international not-for-profit organization, that helps communities around the world address environmental, economic and social challenges, to build a better future shaped and shared by all.

ISC builds the capacity of local leaders and organizations to address important global issues, including climate change, sustainable development and environmental protection, resulting in embedded capacity and lasting change.

Headquartered in the United States of America, ISC has worked across the globe to help communities, cities, industry and NGOs, accomplish environmental, economic, and social goals. ISC has led more than 110 projects in 30 countries and currently works in Asia and USA.

PURPOSE OF THE POST:

ISC wishes to recruit an outstanding, young, energy professional, to fill the vacancy for Program Officer- Energy Efficiency (POEE) to support the SME CleanTech Program, in India.

The SME CleanTech Program promotes energy efficiency and clean technology in Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) clusters across India. The program is already underway in Ahmedabad, Surat, Panipat, Tirupur and Jamnagar and other clusters are likely to soon be added.

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the Director-Energy Efficiency and Clean Energy, the POEE shall represent ISC to industry associations, industries and other stakeholders. S/he shall be responsible for coordinating energy audits, reviewing and addressing issues raised in audit reports and assisting SME units with pilot demonstration projects.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

(1) Coordinate with industry associations to plan and implement activities for the SME CleanTech Program;
(2) Organize and coordinate meetings with industries, associations, and other stakeholders;
(3) Identify and engage with SME sector factory units, get buy-in for projects and provide additional support, as needed;
(4) Assist with energy audits, collect and analyze data and related information and other tasks as required for the program;
(5) Provide assistance for identification of energy efficiency projects and supporting activities;
(6) Help identify technologies for scale up;
(7) Prepare policy notes for energy efficiency in SMEs;
(8) Prepare documentation, as required for various projects;
(9) Provide support for any other related work, as necessary.

4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

Qualifications:
(1) Applicants must have a Bachelors’ degree in a relevant field of engineering;
(2) Applicants possessing a Masters’ degree in a relevant field of engineering shall be at an advantage.

Experience:
Applicants must possess a minimum of three to five years of experience, in the area of energy efficiency and clean technology.

Essential Skills and Competencies:
(1) Strong knowledge and understanding of the energy efficiency and clean technology sector in India ;
(2) Exceptional writing and communication skills;
(3) Ability to produce high-quality products in short time frames including program reports;
(4) Willingness and ability to travel to tier-2 cities across India, for about six to eight days each month;
(5) Commitment to ISC’s mission and goals.

5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:

Gross compensation budgeted for the position is Rs. 12 lacs per annum. The actual offer made to the selected candidate shall be commensurate with qualifications, experience and salary history.
