DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

Description:
Vital
Strategies and The
Union are seeking
qualified candidates for the position of Global Occupational Health and Safety
Officer. This is a full-time position based in The
Union’s South
East Asia Office in New Delhi. The Global Occupational Health and Safety
Officer will be
responsible for 10 Union offices worldwide and three Vital
Strategies offices,
covering more than 800 employees and consultants of The
Union and 200 employees and consultants
of Vital Strategies.
Reporting to the Head
Human Resources of Vital
Strategies, the Global Occupational Health and Safety
Officer will be
responsible for the development, implementation and communication of
occupational health policies for both organizations.
Key Roles
and Responsibilities:
(1) Continually assess and monitor
occupational health needs across the organization as follows:
(a) Conduct job hazard assessments
and environmental/ situational risk assessments and ensure action is taken to
mitigate any health and safety risks to employees in the countries where there
are offices of The Union and Vital Strategies
(b) Conduct risk assessments and ensure action is taken to mitigate any health risks in all the countries where staff of The Union and Vital Strategies work

(2) Develop and update global and
country office occupational health plans that characterize and address:
(a) Health risks from field-based
work
(b) Travel medicine needs
(c) Staff exposure to workplace, community and crisis-related health risks

(3) Establish and manage contracts
to support this work which may include contracts with individuals and
organizations that offer travel medicine industrial hygiene, and protocol
development services;
(4) Provide expert consultation, support and training for managers of the organizations on all occupational health issues;
(5) Develop educational, technical and promotional materials; Implement and conduct risk management and safety education and training programs for staff;
(6) Analyze federal, state, and local laws, directives, guidelines, and codes related to environmental and occupational health control matters and prepare required reports and updates.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:
Qualifications:
(1) Applicants must be MD, MBBS,
Registered Nurse or Occupational Health Nurse;
(2) Applicants who are “Associate Fellows of Industrial Health” shall be at an advantage.

Experience:
(1) Minimum of five years’ related
work experience, preferably with an international focus;
(2) Knowledge of principles and techniques of occupational health risk prevention practiced internationally;
(3) Experience in occupational health principles and practice;
(4) Experience in principles and techniques of training;
(5) Experience in policy and protocol development and implementation;
(6) Indian nationals and/or professionals having permission to work in India shall be at an advantage.

(5) Willingness to travel internationally. Please note the incumbent shall be based in New Delhi, India and travel extensively to different Vital Strategies and The Union offices across the world, based on the needs of the job.

COMPENSATION OFFERED:
Gross compensation budgeted for the
position shall be attractive and in line with job bands and salary scales of The Union and Vital Strategies. The
offer made to the selected candidate shall be commensurate with the
qualifications, experience and salary history.
Apart from Basic Salary, HRA,
Conveyance and LTA, the compensation package includes attractive benefits like
medical hospitalisation insurance, personal accident insurance, provident fund,
gratuity, telephone reimbursements, reimbursements of general medical expenses
etc.

CONTRACT:
The candidate selected shall be
offered a two-year contract, extendable, based on performance.
