Railway Children is an international non-profit organisation, working since 1995 in the United Kingdom, India and East Africa, to create ‘a world where no child should ever have to live alone on the streets’.
Railway Children strives for sustainable changes in the lives of children alone and at risk on the streets. Children living on the streets decide or are forced to leave home due to abuse, violence, neglect and poverty. While living on the street they are exposed to all forms of vulnerabilities, and even death.

Railway Children in India has functioned as the Liaison Office of the charity in the UK and more recently, as a Section 25 (now Section 8) company. Railway Children India was established as a not for profit (Section 8) company in 2013, to scale and sustain the impact of the work of the organization.

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
Purpose of the Post:
Railway Children wishes to recruit a senior fundraising professional to fill the key, strategic role of Head of Fundraising (HoF), based at New Delhi, India.
Railway Children’s has a target to raise about Rs.128 crores in next five years to support its operations. The HoF shall be responsible for play a proactive role in the management of the organization, including strategic planning, organizational development, budget planning, etc.
Reporting to the Country Director, the HoF shall work with UK Marketing and Fundraising Director for developing long- term and short-term strategic fundraising plan to generate funds. The incumbent shall also be responsible for leading the development and delivery of the fundraising strategy, and developing the team to identify the business growth and new opportunities through corporate, institutional and individual channels.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
(1) Build and lead a team for development creating a strong team culture and ownership of targets and objectives;
(2) Research, identify and secure sustainable income;
(3) Keep Railway Children India at the forefront of key fundraising and corporate partnership trends;
(4) Introduce and roll out new business tools and processes to enhance both internal and external communications (e.g. CRM system);
(5) Ensure exceptional account management for all corporate, retail and philanthropic accounts;
(6) Communicate Railway Children’s key campaign messages to potential CSR partners and work with the key members of the group marketing team on delivery;
(7) Work with the programme team to adapt communications for various fundraising audiences;
(5) Lead and develop the fundraising team through regular meetings and identify training needs;
(7) Build relationships with board members and Directors and ensure relationships are maintained;
(8) Managing relationships with high value supporters and fundraising partners;
(9) Work with the UK Head of Corporate Partnerships to introduce or refine working processes (e.g. business development process)
(10) Advise on business development strategies and put relevant processes in place.
4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:
Qualifications:
MBA and/ or Post Graduate with Diploma/ Degree in Business Management (PGDBM), Marketing, Finance, Communication or other relevant discipline.
Experience: 
(1) Minimum 12 to 14 years of experience in fundraising and a proven track record demonstrating experience of;
(a) Manage high value strategic partnerships;
(b) Build and lead a fundraising team;
(c) Construct and manage annual income and expenditure budgets and meet fundraising targets;
(4) Develop partnership strategy across corporate and charity sector;
(5) Fundraising environment and of a range techniques and disciplines which will support the cost-effective generation of income for RCI.
Skills and Competencies:
(1) Commitment to RCI’s core values and strategic direction;
(2) Strong proposal writing skills;
(3) Excellent presentation skills and ability to inspire corporate partners and the Railway Children team;
(4) Excellent people management skills;
(5) Ability to engage new and existing partners with powerful and clear communications;
(6) Excellent communication skills;
(7) Knowledge to advise on business development strategies and put the relevant processes in place;
5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:
Gross compensation budgeted for the position is attractive. Please note that the offer shall be commensurate with the qualifications, experience and salary history of the selected candidate.
