2. ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND:

International Development Enterprises (India), (IDEI) is a respected, non-profit, working in five states across India, for the economic growth and market integration of smallholder farmers, using innovative and low-cost irrigation solutions. 

More than 1.4 million households have adopted IDEI promoted technologies to-date, beneficially impacting more than seven million persons.

IDEI’s efforts have resulted in the reduction of more than 2 million tonnes of carbon emission, 600 million litres of diesel, 800 million kwh of electricity and 6 billion cubic meters of water, in agriculture. In addition, due to IDEI’s unique market based approach, more than 650 million-person days of employment have also been generated.

IDEI has been adjudged the “front runner” in the world for low cost irrigation solutions and recognized by the Skoll Foundation, Templeton Foundation & Schwab Foundation, for outstanding contribution in the field of “social entrepreneurship”. 3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the Director: IDEI, the Consultant- Rural Livelihood Programme shall be responsible for providing support to the team in promoting sustainable agricultural practices and products.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

(1) Manage, supervise and motivate a team of 50 plus personnel including zonal and state coordinators and the field teams for achieving targets;
(2) Provide guidance to each team to deliver the project targets;
(3) Provide support to team and conduct regular field visits to each state to monitor the progress of the programme;
(4) Support the team in promoting sustainable agricultural practices and products;
(5) Provide support to team for engaging and managing sustainable relationship with the small and marginal farmers;
(6) Develop and maintain relationships with supply chain and value chain partners and other stakeholders;
(7) Support in managing customer level information systems;
(8) Capacity building of the staff to enhance programme productivity;
(9) Facilitate the coordination of activities between the regional managers and CCO;
(10) Assist in deeper penetration of IDEI’s work in the field;
(11) Support in expanding the programme from five to ten states;

4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

Qualification:
Applicants must be Graduate/Post Graduate in Agriculture/Agri Business Management.

Experience:
(1) Three-Four years’ experience in Rural Marketing (Agri-input- seeds (not from fertilizer, pesticides/pharma background) / Farm equipment;
(2) Prior experience and thorough understanding of the rural markets;

Skills and Competencies:
(1) Excellent communication skills in English and Hindi (Knowledge of Odiya will be an asset);
(2) Thorough understanding of the rural markets in the area;
(3) Proven team management and branch administrations skills;
(4) Track record of achieving targets;
(5) Willing to undertake extensive travel (approximately 20 days a month) and work under pressure;
(6) Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills;
(7) Proficiency of MS Office (Excel, Power Point, etc.)

5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:

Gross compensation budgeted for the position is attractive and ranges from Rs. 10 to 12 lacs per annum. The offer made to the selected candidate shall be commensurate with qualifications, experience and salary history.
