3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to and working directly with the Country Director during the organization’s start-up phase in India, the Finance Manager shall be responsible for handling all finance and accounting activities relating to the country office operations. S/he shall also oversee, guide and support the Administration Manager in the discharge of his/her responsibilities.
Vital Strategies is looking for a competent and hands-on, finance and accounts professional, with prior exposure to instituting robust fiscal management controls at a development sector organization in India. This is an exciting opportunity for a mid-level professional to join and grow with a respected international non-profit, commencing operations in India.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
(1) Recommending and implementing financial processes in alignment with organisational requirement/ goals;
(2) Financial planning, including annual/ monthly budgeting exercise and accurate and timely reporting of actuals, with a view to enabling budget monitoring and tracking of programme funds and grants;
(3) Ensuring compliance with all legal and fiscal obligations applicable to a non-profit organization registered under Section 8 of the Company’s Act;
(4) Timely filing of all statutory returns, ensuring their acknowledgement, assessment and compliance with FCRA, Income Tax Act and other regulations;
(5) Staying constantly updated on periodic amendments and changes to FCRA, Income Tax Act and other laws/ statutory regulations that shall apply to Vital Strategies in India (e.g. GST, etc.);
(6) Handling internal and external audit, as applicable, ensuring these are conducted in time and as per legal requirements;
(7) Facilitating the execution of contractual agreements with selected programme partners, enabling grant-making of donor funds for the execution of approved activities;
(8) Maintaining records of partner compliance such as Audit Reports, Foreign Contribution (FC) returns, Accounts Statements viz (Salary, ESI, PF) etc;
(9) Maintaining bank and cash accounts, payments, ledgers and vouchers and all other records and book of accounts, on a day to day basis;
(10) Controlling salary payments to staff and related benefits/ expenses, including insurance and tax liabilities, monitoring medical and other reimbursables and reconciling the same against entitlements, etc.;
(11) Maintaining books of accounts and monitoring petty cash and bank balances, to ensure sufficient funds are available;
(12) Undertaking any other responsibilities, tasks or activities as reasonably required.

4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:        
Qualification:
(1) Applicants must have a Master’s degree in Commerce, Finance, Accounts or related field, from a recognised institution or university;
(2) Candidates having a professional qualification in accounts, such as CA/ CS/ ICWA/ ICMA, or equivalent, will be at an advantage.
Experience:
Applicants must have a minimum of five years of ‘hands-on’ experience in handling the finance and accounts functions for the development sector, preferably in health and/or with an international non-profit.
Skills and Competencies:
(1) Excellent communication and analytical skills;
(2) Good interpersonal skills and experience in managing relationships with diverse stakeholders;
(3) Proficiency in using accounting and database systems with experience in Quick Book and Tally accounting package, will be preferred;
(4) Proficiency in using MS Excel;
(5) Flexible and ability to work as an individual contributor.
5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:
Gross annual remuneration budgeted for the position ranges from Rs.9 to 12 lacs per annum. Please note that offers shall be commensurate with the qualifications, experience and salary history, of the selected candidate.
6. TENURE: 
The successful candidate shall be issued a contract for a period of one year, with possibility of renewal based on performance and availability of funds.
