1. POSITION VACANT: Project Manager, Jagran Pehel, New Delhi
2. BACKGROUND:
Jagran Pehel a division of Sri
Puranchandra Gupta Smarak Trust and an initiative of Jagran
Prakashan Limited*, is actively involved in awareness generation
targeted at behavioral change and advocacy on social issues, through the
innovative use of mass and mid media approaches and stimulating interpersonal
communication.

Jagran Pehel works on a range of
development issues spanning WASH, population, CSR, sustainable development,
education, gender equality and poverty alleviation
Jagran Pehel, in collaboration with one of the world’s leading consumer health
and hygiene companies is all set to launch a project on health, hygiene and
sanitation that shall be implemented in 200 villages across Uttar Pradesh and
Bihar. The project is aiming at creating Sanitation Change Leaders from the grassroots governance
structures, community based organizations and frontline health workers and
build their capacities for sustainable behavior change in the communities of
these villages.

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting
to the Senior Management- Jagran Pehel,
the Project Manager shall be responsible for the overall
implementation of the approved project. S/he would lead project management and
implementation efforts for this community led Health, Hygiene and Sanitation
Project. Based on the results based management approach, s/he will oversee
implementation of this UK based donor funded project in the states of Uttar
Pradesh and Bihar.
Key Job Responsibilities:
(1)
Work with the Senior Management Team to implement a community based health,
hygiene and sanitation project in project states and oversee planning,
management, reporting, implementation and monitoring of the project;
(2) Provide leadership and guidance to all project staff on direction and implementation of the project;
(3) Develop and implement effective project strategy and set clear objectives and indicators;
(4) Prepare periodic programmatic work plans and project budgets in line with donor and mission conventions;
(5) Continuously monitor and supervise project activities, oversee technical design, execution and evaluation of progress through outputs and impacts using both quantitative and qualitative data;
(6) Administer project budget through reviewing payment requests, approving expenditures in accordance with donor policies and procedures and track and control overall costs within budgetary parameters;
(7) Liaise with district and block administration and other line departments, local government and NGOs to enhance their participation and collaboration;
(8) Ensure accurate and timely reporting of activities according to donor and other applicable timeframes and formats; Develop donor reports and documents in line with contractual requirements;
(9) Ensure appropriate and timely technical assistance and incorporate the same in relevant project activities;
(10) Provide capacity building support and technical supervision staff;
(11) Ensure mid-term reviews and annual appraisals are completed for all project staff, in line with the performance management system;
(12) Develop, produce and disseminate high quality information and materials detailing Jagran Pehel’sactivities in states for use within and outside the organization;
(13) Develop and maintain appropriate, regular, transparent and supportive communication structures with the assigned project team, and other relevant stakeholders with the objective of ensuring good cooperation and partnerships;
(14) Any other task as assigned by management.

4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:
Qualification:
Applicant must possess Ph.D., MBA (Rural Development / Management), M.Phil, or equivalent from a reputed, globally recognized institute.

(1) The applicant should have a minimum of seven years’ experience in managing multi state projects, preferably on health, hygiene and sanitation;
(2) Experience in managing multi- year projects supported by bilateral or multilateral agency;
(3) Prior experience in working on CSR projects of corporates desired;
(4) Prior exposure to understanding the result based management of non-profit projects;
(5) In-depth understanding of development issues in the areas of Health, Hygiene and Sanitation is essential.

5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:
Gross
compensation for the position shall be attractive. The offer made to the
selected candidate shall be commensurate with qualifications, experience and
salary history.
6. CONTRACTUAL EMPLOYMENT:
The
successful candidate shall be initially offered one year contract, renewable,
based on performance.
