2. ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND:
Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) India is a registered, charitable trust, set-up in 1998, to provide strategic and management support to corporates, individuals and NGOs, with the objective of ensuring greater impact of their philanthropic and CSR investments.
CAF India is a part of the CAF International Network with offices in nine countries including UK, USA, Russia, Bulgaria, Australia, Brazil, South Africa and India. The mission of the CAF network is to promote strategic giving.

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Head of Programs shall be responsible for developing a strategic road map for development, management and execution of CAF India’s programs and projects in the next three to five years. S/he shall additionally be responsible for strategizing and executing a revenue earning plan for CAF India’s NGO validation services and making it financially self-sustainable.
Key Job Responsibilities:
(A) Strategy:
(1) Provide clear vision and leadership on how CAF India projects and programs can be developed in the next three to five years;
(2) Develop and implement a strategy to grow CAF India programs, NGO validation and donor servicing by bringing in more quality and depth;
(3) Develop and implement a strategy which demonstrates the social impact of CAF programs;
(4) Develop CAF India’s NGO service divisions as a financially sustainable model which provide quality strategic, advisory and management services to donors and NGOs;
(5) Strategize and execute a revenue earning plan for CAF India NGO validation services and make it financially self-sustainable;
(6) Develop thematic learning and knowledge management within CAF;
(7) Promote new ideas, concepts and generate new business opportunity for CAF;
(8) Support Business Development team in fund raising from different types of donors (institutional, corporate, PSUs, SMEs, HNIs);
(9) Develop CAF India proposal for submission against suitable RFPs;
(10) Support in CAF India advisory work for Corporate and NGOs.
(B) Management:
(1) Responsible for end to end management of CAF’s charitable grant making programmes of donors, specifically corporate clients, and other donors, including, but not limited to, HNIs, Trust, Foundation, Institutional funding agencies, government etc. This includes management of various projects and grants made to NGOs and monitoring and evaluation of grants made under Corporate Giving, GAYE;
(2) Ensure that CAF’s grant making services and processes are transparent, effective and efficient and in line with best practice in the sector and meet the needs of CAF’s donors;
(3) Responsible for having systems and processes in place to ensure monitoring of transactions, internal audits, handling donor complaints and managing risks;
(4) Management of the operational planning and delivery of CAF’s projects and programs including workflow and resource management, monitoring and reporting of targets, resolution of issues and troubleshooting;
(5) Provide oversight to ensure effective delivery of CAF’s grant making programmes with quality assurance;
(6) Manage grant-giving services, to be responsible for consultancy fees, invoicing and payments for services;
(7) Set up a separate, self-sustaining unit of NGO validation and advisory services;
(8) Provide leadership support in the scope of CAF India’s work on NGO validation, capacity building, accountability, transparency and governance, and advocate for the same;
(9) Set up a vertical within the unit to undertake NGO advisory work in a sustainable way;
(10) Analyse NGO due diligence reports and identify capacity building and other needs of NGOs and device effective strategy/ work plan to address the same;
(11) Organize capacity building workshops for NGOs in the area of governance, leadership, strategic planning, program and financial management, human resource management;
(12) Create and maintain a comprehensive MIS on NGO validations, files and mandatory documents for the project for audit purpose;
(13) Oversee the NGO validation programme and ensure that high quality standards are maintained;
(14) Regularly revisit and improve CAF India’s NGO validation process and formats, with a view to adding more depth and quality; 
(15) Develop a guidance manual on CAF India NGO validation; 
(16) Responsible for building an efficient and effective Donor Servicing Unit in CAF India;
(17) Set up, develop and manage donor relationships and donor retention and growth activities with different types of donors;
(18) Responsible for complete client servicing for donors;
(19) Create, implement and measure the impact of operational processes and procedures designed to continually improve the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of the Client Service team;
(20) Supervise the provision of regular updates on the receipt and disbursals of funds, track the CAF-Donor MoUs, provide year end fund utilization reports and tax exemption receipts;
(21) Organize donor events/ meet, campaigns and other fund-raising events;
(22) Provide leadership and management to a strong team of managers to support them to implement their proposition and develop their thought leadership and relationships with companies, HNWIs, and charities;
(23) Provide leadership, mentoring and coaching to the team members and ensure that results are delivered on time;
(24) Work closely with other units of CAF, particularly the sales, marketing, communications teams to ensure that CAF India’s programs are represented and positioned appropriately;
(25) Develop a roaster of qualified consultants with expertise in relevant areas and coordinate with them. Identifying consultants, develop TOR and manage delivery against the expectations.
(C) Thought Leadership and External Representation:
(1) Help grow and strengthen CAF’s brand and reputation as a provider of professional management of programs, strategic advice and thought leadership, demonstrating how we add value to our clients;
(2) Proactively seek out opportunities to represent CAF externally on issues relating to strategic and effective giving, philanthropy, corporate community investment and social investment and social impact;
(3) Cultivate and build relationship with different civil society networks, INGOs, and Government agencies and ensure that CAF brand is recognized;
(4) Represent CAF India at relevant forums, conferences, meetings and network with sector/non-sector representative organisations;
(5) Liaise with the Ministry of Home Affairs, Planning Commission and networks of NGOs etc. on policy related issues to NGO sector;
(6) Any other activities as requested by the line manager.
4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:
Qualification:
Post graduate in Social Work/ Sociology/ Social Science or MBA from a reputed university.  
Experience:
(1) Minimum 15 years of experience in developing, delivering and managing social development programs. Exposure to CSR will be an advantage;
(2) Experience of strategic thinking, decision making, development of thought leadership and intellectual rigour;
(3) Experience of managing multi donor (including corporate), multi sectoral, small and large budgeted, complex programs;
(4) Experience of strategic planning and business modelling, ideally in a cross-sectoral, multi-disciplinary field;
(5) Demonstrated experience of donor servicing, retention and NGO grant relationship management. Exposure to managing payroll supported programs will be an advantage;
(6) Experience of organising and conducting NGO capacity building workshops and training.

Skills and Competencies:
(1) Ability to leverage existing projects and grants to attract more business and gain scale in operations;
(2) Excellent communication skills including the gravitas to represent the organisation at the highest level within civil society sector, companies and government;
(3) Strong people management skills and influencing and negotiating skills with an ability to build constructive and long-term relationships;
(4) Ability to multi task & deliver stretch targets;
(5) Ability to inspire and lead a passionate and intelligent team;  
(6) Strong proposal writing skills and experience of working with (financial and/or impact) target driven business models;
(7) Strong understanding of the Companies Act 2013 and related socio- legal and policy environment governing CSR in India;
(8) Knowledge and experience of working in NGO sector in India;
(9) Experience of developing/ adapting and application of program management tools and MIS.
(10) Flexibility to travel and attend meetings out of normal working hours;
(11) Proficiency in MS and excel.
5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:
Gross annual remuneration budgeted for the position is approx. Rs.18-20 lacs per annum. The offer made to the selected candidate shall be commensurate with qualifications, experience and salary history.
