Project Background

The MMR of Chhattisgarh stands at 221 per 100,000 live births, a long way from the target of 100/100,000 live births. The MMR of the state is also high as compared to national average of 167 per 100000 live births. Moreover institution delivery in the state has increased from 34.9% (AHS 2010-11) to 56.1% (RSOC 2013-14) which is further increased to 70.2% (NFHS-IV), still state has scope of improvement in institutional delivery rate.
Govt. of Chhattisgarh has launched several interventions as an integral component of RMNCH+A to achieve programmatic goals related to safe motherhood. Provision of Basic/Comprehensive Emergency medical obstetric cares with availability of skilled attendance at birth within easy reach of population, complemented with availability of emergency referral transport are some of the key strategic interventions to reduce maternal morbidity and mortality.
