Job Description:

The Foundation envisages to conduct evidence based Research on existing and emerging challenges faced by Children, identifying and surfacing gaps in policies, devising realistic solutions and making necessary recommendations to support informed decision making. Also committed to work towards strengthening policies and surroundings for children in need of care and protection and building capacity by providing knowledge and skills training for different stakeholders and different child protection agencies/actors and duty bearers.
This position of Deputy Director Programs is designed to obtain high-quality professional leadership for strategizing and implementing the Foundation’s Programs and related projects. S/he will be responsible for providing strategic direction, leading and continuously monitoring this initiative. S/he will be expected to oversee the coordination and administration thereby ensuring expansion of all aspects of this ongoing program.  

The person will be responsible for:

Strategy: Deputy Program Director (DPD) is primarily responsible for technical excellence of programming across the Foundation’s portfolio. Develop and implement the strategy with the Project team in accordance with the objectives. Supporting and scaling up of child friendly programs, develop and implement models for holistic and integrated child centric community development. To support established models and processes of providing legal assistance to children in need of care of protection.

S/he plays a critical role in aligning programming with the Foundation’s Strategic Programming Framework with the goal of every child can live freely with dignity, where all children have the fundamental right to be free, safe, healthy, educated, and realize his or her potential. Ensure adequate and strategic representation and influencing of key nodal ministries at national level, positioning the Foundation as a high expertise, competent knowledge organization. Respond to requests for inputs to government and donor development design.

Project Management: Responsible for line management ensuring strong, cohesive and coordinated support to the Foundation’s projects, aligned with strategic priorities. Formulating the process for expansion, monitor progress and ensure the workings with partners, responsible for preparing the budget and it’s monitoring. Promote key innovation within thematic areas.

Relationship Management: Provide support to partners to work independently. Build and nurture effective working relationships amongst all communities (Village, Government).

Resource Mobilization and Portfolio Development: Provide leadership to the Foundation’s efforts to respond to competitive bids in an efficient manner, ensuring a competitive edge in areas core to the Foundation’s programming, and presenting the best that they have to offer.

Leadership: Recruit, lead and develop the Program team, including setting performance objectives and performance reviews together with the HR Lead.

Qualification: Masters degree in a thematic areas, public policy or social sciences or equivalent education.

Experience: Minimum 12 years’ of relevant work experience in development in development sector with 8 years of experience in managing a leadership role.
