In India, Jhpiego works across nineteen states in close collaboration with national and state governments by providing technical assistance in the areas of family planning, maternal and child health, and pre-service nursing and midwifery education. These projects are funded by USAID, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Norway India Partnership Initiative (NIPI), David & Lucile Packard Foundation, Children’s Investment Foundation Fund (CIFF), MacArthur Foundation, Department for International Development (DFID) and others.

Jhpiego is hiring for the position of Data Assistant based at Bhubaneswar and Raipur. The position is responsible for managing and tracking all program related data for the respective state as well as sharing it with stakeholders and Jhpiego India Country office. The Data Assistant will use standard Microsoft Access and Excel databases to enter and maintain data on a daily basis. The position will provide support to the Monitoring and Evaluation officer based at the station.

Responsibilities
• Compile, sort and verify the accuracy of data before it is entered by using checks provided by the supervisor.
• Record all data errors in the format provided and report its summaries to the supervisor.
• Perform data entry efficiently and systematically and regularly maintain back-up of data.
• Verify accuracy of the data entered into the computer by performing periodic data quality checks; prepare and submit reports to the supervisor.
• Maintain timelines and accuracy in submitting up-to-date activity logs and completed data entries, follow-ups, and quality checks.
• Maintain documents and report files.
• Assist in data collection and conduct field visits for follow-up assessments as needed.
• To follow up clients through telephone for updating their status periodically as per the protocol and enter follow-up finding in database timely.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor to ensure sound functioning of the office and achievement of program goals.

Required Skills
• Proficient in MS Office.
• Good speed and accuracy in data entry.
• Flexibility and ability to handle a variety of assignments under strict deadlines.
• Ability to work in a diversified team as well as independently.
• Ability to work in a multi-cultural work environment.
• Ability and willingness to travel within the state of Orissa and Chhattisgarh.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree with at least a post graduate Diploma in Computer Applications.
• Master’s degree in computer science will be preferred.
• Minimum two years of experience in handling Public Health Data on MS Access.
