JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Title: Project Manager – Water Resource Development

Location: RIL-CBM CSR Project, Shahdol (MP)

Reporting to: Project Head CSR –Shahdol (RIL-CBM CSR Project)

Reliance Foundation works with some of the most vulnerable and marginalized communities across India, with the objective of integrating them into mainstream development process of the country. The Foundation focuses its efforts on five core pillars of Rural Transformation, Education, Health, Urban Renewal and Arts, Culture & Heritage.

The Foundation is also entrusted with the responsibility of leading the developmental activities in and around the company’s Coal based Methane (CBM) sites in Shahdol District of M.P

Position overview:

The position encompasses working on the all aspects of implementation of Water Resource Development in the Project area which will not only help the community in multi fold increase of crops in Agriculture and related livelihood, but will also help in recharging the under-ground water table in the area, which will benefit the community on drinking water front. The incumbent will primarily will be working at RIL-CBM project location in Shahdol and reporting to the Project Director CBM –CSR project, Shahdol (MP). This Project is part of sub function under SEALs programme of the Reliance Foundation. In consultation with the PD- CBM –CSR project - shahdol the incumbent will prepare the strategy for ground implementation of project activities. The position will take operational responsibility for implementing the various components of the project at its base location as envisaged under the approved project proposal of the department for CBM sites in Shahdol. In order to create the desired impact, the person will work closely with community and the CSR team of Shahdol, and would deliver end to end results.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Situation analysis and Community Mobilization:

Do a proper situational analysis of the area, about the project to be implemented and will be responsible for the detailed water survey/budgetting exercises with respect to selection of the target community/ areas for development of water resources. Mobilize community towards meeting the project objectives with set of various activities and organizing them into common interest groups under suitable framework to build sustainable institutions on ground. Take regular feedback from the community on various actions of the project and rectify the work/implementation schedule in consultation with Head CSR- Shahdol.

Planning & Budgeting:

Prepare the detailed Implementation plan as per annual work plan from time to time, and provide support to Head CSR in Drafting annual physical plans and budgets, monthly/quarterly and weekly updates on progress of different initiatives under the Project. Draw up the sustainability plans of the project in the area as envisaged in the project. 

Team and Capacity building 

Meet regularly the community level resource persons and help identify the areas of development and develop the capacity building plans of the community resource persons and other farmer members on various aspects of the plan. Being expert in water resource development he/she would also build the capacity of team member for understanding the intricacy of the project.

Programme Implementation and Documentation:

Will be primarily responsible for day to day implementation of all activities of the water program, its monitoring & reporting regularly through a systematic Process of capturing activities and outcome. Documenting the best practice implemented, success story and case study of the community level changes. Taking all necessary permission from relevant agencies and be responsible for all related legalities to be met. Knowledge and experience of managing common property resources and mobilize the community for the same for better and efficient usage of water resources.

Networking and linkages:

Help the team in identification of various successful models, best practices in the operational area related to Water Resource development etc. Identify and support the lead farmers for getting better productivity from the available/created resources, liaison with all stakeholders on the ground and networking with one and all for better community action towards achieving the objectives of the Project. 

Educational Qualifications and experience:

a) Must haves / Essential:
• A Degree in Engineering in related field of Water Resource Development or related subjects like- Geology. A PG degree/Diploma would get additional advantage
• Minimum 5 years of Implementation experience in managing water resource development project in an NGO or corporate CSR. 
• Demonstrated ability to think, prioritize, and Implement the activities as per the project deadlines, must be gender and culturally sensitive.

b) Preferred:
• Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with stakeholders, Partners and internal customers in a dynamic environment.
• Experience of Planning and Implementation, tools and systems.
• Excellent ability to speak and write in English and Hindi for communicating with all internal and external Stake holders.

• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Problem solving skills
• Should be tech savvy & comfortable computers & smart phone for day to day activities.
• Ability to work well with diverse teams from all backgrounds and levels.
• Strong technical skills in the domain area – water resource development and management, Agriculture.
• Experience in capacity building (local partner from civil society & stakeholder farmers).
