Going to School (GTS) is an award winning, creative, not-for-profit education trust that creates design-driven stories, to empower all children with the skills they need to participate in the world around them, solving poverty, unemployment and inequality.
GTS imparts entrepreneurial skills to government school children, through the art of storytelling with the help of books, games and activities designed by GTS. School teachers are trained by GTS to impart these skills. GTS’s curriculum has been widely recognised and has also been included in NCERT at the national level. GTS is working closely with the Government of Bihar and Jharkhand. GTS has an MOU to work in 3,000+ Government schools by 2018.

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to and working closely with the CEO and COO, the Finance Managers shall be responsible for developing and implementing an ambitious yet grounded finance strategy for GTS and managing the entire finance and accounting operations of the organization. S/he shall partner with the leadership team to enhance and better integrate these functions and ensure organizational efficiency.
Key Job Responsibilities:
(A) Budgeting and Financial Reporting 
(1) Understand the financial needs of the organization and work with the Management and Programmatic Staff to develop a long-term budget;
(2) Generate Budget vs. Actual and Variance Analysis Reports, on a periodic basis;
(3) Work closely with Donors to understand financial and reporting conditionalities and institute appropriate changes to organizational systems and processes, in consultation with the Management, to enable the same; 
(4) Advise the Management on ways to improve financial reporting to key stakeholders, ensuring timeliness, accuracy and transparency of accounts;
(5) Generate Cash Flow, Project Expenditure and organizational Financial Statements on a monthly and/or quarterly frequency;
(6)  Ensure timely financial reporting to the Management, Donors and key stakeholders of GTS.
(B) Financial Management 
Provide the Management with an analysis of accounts on a regular basis and advise on key financial management decisions to be made and/or improvements to related systems and processes.
(C) Statutory Compliances; Audit
(1) Ensure compliance with FCRA, Income Tax Act and other regulations, as applicable; 
(2) Timely filing of all statutory returns including their acknowledgement and assessment;
(3)  Liaise with statutory auditors and ensure all internal and statutory audits are conducted in time and as per legal requirements.
(D) Partnership Management; Grant-Making 
(1) Provide support to Programmatic Staff for the recommendation of potential programme partners, considering management and financial capability, based on assessment of their financial statements, systems and processes 
(2) Execute contractual agreements with selected programme partners enabling grant-making of donor funds for the execution of approved activities
(3) Maintain records of partner compliance such as Audit Reports, Foreign Contribution (FC) returns, Accounts Statements, etc.
4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES: 
Qualification: 
(1) Applicants must have a Masters’ in Commerce/ Finance/ Accounts, or equivalent;
(2) Candidates having a professional qualification in accounts such as CA/ CS/ ICWA/ ICMA, or equivalent, will be at an advantage.
Experience:
(1) Applicants must have at least seven years of experience in providing financial services to organizations;
(2) Prior experience in the not-for-profit sector shall be preferred.
Skills and Competencies:
(1) Excellent communication and analytical skills;
(2) A strong sense of proactivity to ensure efficient financial management;
(3) Result oriented and proven ability to deliver to deadlines;
(4) Commitment to accuracy, attention to detail and follow through;
(5) Good interpersonal skills, especially listening skills and experience in managing relationships with diverse stakeholders (Board, donors, team members across the hierarchy);
(6) Maturity and the highest degree of integrity;
(7) Proficiency in Tally or other standard accounting package;
(8) Expertise in the use of MS Excel.
5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:
The gross remuneration budgeted for the position is Rs. 9 lacs per annum. Offer shall be commensurate with the qualifications, experience and salary history, of the selected candidate.
