National Centre for Disease
Control (NCDC)-Delhi, in
collaboration with the US Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC),
is currently hosting the India Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) Programme,
modeled on the US EIS Programme. This is a joint venture between India
and USA, aimed at preparing public health professionals for leadership
positions at district, state and national levels. The India EIS Programme has
been recognized by National Board of Examination (NBE) to appear for DNB Part 2
as per the laid down procedures.

the enrolment of a minimum of 15 outstanding public health professionals for India

The main objective is “Government, industry and other relevant stakeholders actively promote environmental sustainability and enhanced resilience of communities in the face of challenges of climate change, disaster risk and natural resource depletion”. The project on “Strengthening Institutional and Community Resilience to Disasters and Climate Change” has been formulated under this framework. This project aims to strengthen capacities of government, communities and institutions for disaster risk reduction including risks being enhanced due to climate change, and develop preparedness for recovery. The project with a total resource allocation of US$ 6.15 million will focus on ten multi-hazard prone states, 25 districts, 10 cities and 10,000 villages. The main components are: (1) Mainstreaming DRR and CCA in Development Planning; (2) Urban Risk Reduction; (3) Technical Assistance and Capacity Building;
