Program Officer-Advocacy
Location: Lucknow(1), Bhopal(1)
WaterAid India invites applications from experienced
and qualified professionals, to develop, implement and lead advocacy strategies
for the states, ensuring that the policy and advocacy priorities are aligned
with and contribute to the WaterAid’s country strategy.
WaterAid is an international nongovernmental
organisation focused exclusively on improving poor people’s access to safe
water, improved hygiene and sanitation in developing countries.
WaterAid has operations in 26 countries of
Africa, Asia and the Pacific Region. In India WaterAid operates as a liaison
Office (Country Office) in New Delhi and Additional Liaison (Regional) Offices
in Bangalore, Bhopal, Lucknow, and Bhubaneshwar. In 10 states across the
country WaterAid supports the work of a large number of national and regional
NGOs in the provision of safe and effective water and sanitation for poor and
marginalized communities. Our team of professionals includes programme, policy
and finance staff. India Country Programme is one of WaterAid’s most
established programmes in Asia with a total of 54 staff. WAI’s programme focus
in the coming five years will be promoting
and securing the rights and access to safe water, improved hygiene and
sanitation for many poor people through direct services and millions
more through our influencing work. This will include significant inputs of
research, documentation, advocacy, networking and supporting NGOs.
WaterAid India invites applications from experienced
and qualified candidates for the position of Program Officer-Advocacy for each of its offices in Lucknow and Bhopal. Program
Officer-Advocacy will be responsible for the development of advocacy strategies
for the states, and their implementation, ensuring that the policy and advocacy
priorities are aligned with and contribute to the WaterAid’s country strategy.
The post holder will network across WASH, Health and Nutrition and other sector
stakeholders. Develop policy briefs and other communiqués to impactfully
communicate WaterAid’s position and policy to key stakeholders. To provide
specific inputs into advocacy campaigns on prioritised issues, lead research
initiatives of the region and be constantly updated on the sector developments. The post holder reports to the
Regional Manager.
Essential
requirements for the post are Post graduation (or equivalent) qualification in
one of the following areas: Governance studies, Policy Analysis, social
sciences, Poverty and economics, environment, social policy, engineering.
Minimum five years experience of working in development field with atleast two
years experience in policy research and/or advocacy activities. Understanding
Additional qualification in water, sanitation, hygiene education will be an
added advantage.
