TITLE: Manager Programs (Under PEHEL Project)

LOCATION: Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh

DEPARTMENT: Programs 

REPORTS TO: Senior Manager Programs

SUPERVISES: Network Coordinators, Assistant Manager-Communications, 
Assistant Manager-Network & Data Entry Operators.

Population Services International, India is a registered Indian Society dedicated to the improvement of public health in India. PSI India’s mission is to empower the people of India to lead healthy lives. Over the past twenty years, PSI has collaborated with the GoI and a number of donors to increase the use of modern contraception for family planning, to provide products and services for the health of mothers and children and to decrease the spread of HIV/AIDS. PSI harnesses the vitality of the private sector to address health problems of the low-income and vulnerable populations using social marketing to achieve positive behaviour change by promoting ideas, products and services conducive to better health. PSI promotes and distributes 11 health products, using commercial channels and outlets to make available quality health products at affordable prices. The basket of products includes condoms, oral contraceptives, intra uterine devices, emergency contraceptives, ORS, water purification solutions; IFA tablets; clean delivery kits and pre-packaged STI treatment kit. PSI India is currently implementing an integrated behavior change program for better health of women, named ‘PEHEL’ in 30 districts spread across three states-Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Delhi. The objective of Pehel program is to reduce unintended pregnancies, maternal mortality and morbidity among low income women of reproductive age. This project comprises of two components i.e. prevention of unwanted pregnancy using Intra Uterine Device (IUD) and increasing access to Safe Abortions. The WHP program caters to the target population of Women of Reproductive Age (WRA) in 15-49 age groups, living in urban and peri-urban areas, belonging to the B, C and D socio-economic class.


A. POSITION PURPOSE: 

Responsible for the leadership, coordination and successful implementation of PEHEL program in the assigned territory/Location. 

B. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Develop Location plans in accordance with overall State project strategy
2. Lead the recruitment, orientation and support of staff to undertake all aspects of the program deliverables in PEHEL program
3. Oversee, Supervise and support direct reports to meet project deliverables of sales, communications, research, services and training. 
4. Responsible for overseeing the Location sales operations to include managing the super stockiest in the dists
5. Identify and define technical requirements of team members and collaborate with National Technical teams to fulfill those.
6. Oversee collection and reporting of data required under the Assigned locations and accommodate project-wide monitoring activities
7. Review and analyze Location level data regularly to improve local management and decision-making.
8. Accountable for the prudent management of all administrative and financial activities in accordance with program needs and PSI policies and procedures
9. Provide regular, concise reporting on program activities
10. Represent PSI in all Government Forums in assigned locations. Participate in various meetings.

C. QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:


1. Post-Graduate degree in social sciences and, rural management or related field.PG diploma or Degree in Business Management will be added advantage
2. At least 5-8 years of experience in leading team and managing field operations.

1. Desire to contribute to improved public health in India and an understanding of public health issues in India. 
2. Strong leadership and managerial skills
3. Demonstrated understanding of the behavior change communication, research and technical medical services. 
4. Strong report writing & presentation skills
5. Planning & Organizational Skills
6. A team player with strong training & mentoring skills
7. Excellent communication skills both oral and written. Knowledge of regional languages would be an advantage. 
8. Good computer skills. 
9. Highest integrity, maturity and professionalism
10. Willingness to travel extensively in Location 70-80% of time
