Senior Health Professional, Smile Train India


1.  Position: Senior Health Professional, Smile Train India, NCR

2.  Background:

Smile Train India is a not-for-profit company registered under Section 25 of the Indian Companies Act of 1956 with exemption u/s 80G of the IT Act. It is part of Smile Train – the world’s largest charity devoted exclusively to the cause of helping poor children born with cleft lips and cleft palates in developing countries.

Smile Train India wishes to recruit a senior public health professional to manage and support existing treatment partners and grant recipients, widen outreach programs of treatment partners, identify and develop suitable hospitals and surgeons in underserved areas, accelerate the number of sponsored cleft surgeries and implement national and global initiatives of the organization within the assigned area.


3.  Key Roles and Responsibilities:

(1) Manage and support existing treatment partners and grant recipients for their administrative needs to ensure that programs are aligned with the overall goals, mission, priorities and policies of the organization;
(2) Develop innovative and cost effective local initiatives and strategies to widen outreach programs of treatment partners to spread the ‘message’ and increase surgeries;
(3) Identify and develop suitable hospitals and surgeons in underserved areas within the assigned territory to expand the coverage of Smile Train partnerships and programs;
(4) Work closely with existing and new treatment partners to accelerate the number of sponsored cleft surgeries whilst maintaining the safety or quality standards mandated by the Medical Advisory Board;
(5) Liaise with the local governmental, non-governmental and voluntary agencies in to leverage their resources for significantly expanding The Smile Train programs;
(6) Implement national and global initiatives of the organization within the assigned area;
(7) Build and nurture strategic linkages with suitable external partners, e.g. local Corporates, medical educational institutions etc that can function as ‘force multipliers’ to bolster our business plans;
(8) Keep the Regional Director continually informed through periodic reports on major developments, key issues and progress against agreed targets;
(9) To regularly provide content from the field such as stories, photos and videos on partners, patients/families, new programs.

4.  Reporting To:

The Job Holder shall report to the Regional Director – South Asia.

5.  Qualifications, Experience & Required Skill Sets:

Qualifications

Applicants must be MBBS or higher, from a reputed Indian College.

Experience

Candidates must possess about 10 years of post qualification experience including prior exposure to managing health programs or initiatives, as above.

Skills & Other Requirements

(1) A sound academic background, preferably a medical degree, with a solid, proven track record of sales in a reputed company or of operations in an international nonprofit;
(2) Excellent communication abilities – both oral and in writing;
(3) High degree of computer literacy;
(4) Strong analytical and organizing skills;
(5) Initiative and creativity to develop and implement innovative programs;
(6) High levels of energy and commitment to excellence;
(7) Outstanding interpersonal and networking skills;
(8) Highly self disciplined with the ability to work from home;
(9) Have the necessary enthusiasm to travel up to 15 days a month;
(10) A sincere commitment to the cause of helping children and a strong identification with Smile Train’s goals.

Candidates in their mid to late 30's, resident in NCR shall be at an advantage.

6.  Compensation:

Gross compensation for the position shall be negotiated around Rs 15-18 lakhs per annum.

7.  Location:

The position is based at New Delhi.

Smile Train India does not operate out of formal offices and all existing staff work from home, in a highly networked environment.

8. Tenure:

The selected person will be on probation for 6 months and if confirmed this is an ongoing position.
