1. POSITION VACANT: Research, Monitoring & Evaluation Specialist (RMES), Wadhwani Initiative for Sustainable Healthcare (WISH), Jaipur, Rajasthan

2. BACKGROUND:

The multitude of health problems and poor health indicators notwithstanding, India has a vibrant healthcare ecosystem with hundreds of activists, entrepreneurs and institutions initiating programmes and experimenting with processes, to improve health outcomes.

The Wadhwani Initiative for Sustainable Healthcare* (WISH), is a not-for-profit initiative to strengthen and support these people and institutions, across the for-profit and not-for-profit sectors. WISH strives to streamline the evolving healthcare innovation eco-system, to reduce inefficiencies, channelize growth momentum and ensure alignment with government policy. WISH is championed by Mr Sunil Wadhwani, Chairman and Co-Founder, iGate Corporation, USA.

WISH fosters healthcare innovation, supports high-impact scalable organizations, mobilizes resources of key stakeholders, involves end users in the innovation process and builds evidence on interventions that improve health outcomes for the rural and urban poor in India. 3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to Program Director SCALE Rajasthan, the Research, Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist(RMES) shall work closely with the program team for creating monitoring and evaluation frameworks, tools and dashboards for continuous program implementation monitoring and assisting them with inputs to improve the efficacy of the project.

Key Responsibilities:

(1) Assisting the Program Director and Head of Research to study the typology used by existing healthcare innovation databases and developing a comprehensive healthcare typology;
(2) Reviewing existing studies at the national, state and district levels, and documents like the District and State action plans and NHM assessment reports, to develop a comprehensive understanding of need gaps in the healthcare ecosystem;
(3) Developing and implementing research instruments to conduct primary research with implementers and healthcare service providers, on the existing need gaps;
(4) Assisting the Head of Research in analysing existing frameworks for the evaluation of healthcare enterprises to develop a comprehensive impact and scalability analysis metric;
(5) Writing papers and reports on the work being undertaken by the Research Division and publishing the results of various studies that are underway, or have been completed;
(6) Representing WISH at research, M&E forums and networks with sector/ non-sectoral representatives for greater outreach;
(8) Planning and implementing exploratory and secondary research to create a database of healthcare interventions in India;
(9) Ensuring constant updation and maintenance of the healthcare interventions and innovators database;
(10) Identifying need gaps and conducting capacity building for research, monitoring and evaluation of enterprises receiving assistance from WISH;
(11) Any other duty assigned by the Program Director and/or Head of Research.

4. QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

Qualification:

Post Graduate Degree/ Diploma in Management, Social Sciences, or other related field, from a reputed institute.

Experience:

(1) Minimum 5-7 years experience in primary and secondary data collection, health program and policy research;
(2) Proven track record of handling monitoring & evaluation studies, quantitative as well as qualitative research and large scale database research.

Skills:

(1) Excellent analytical skills and ability to translate data into information and effectively present findings to different audiences;
(2) Large scale data handling skills;
(3) Good knowledge of the social and development sector;
(4) Proficiency in SPSS or STATA, MS Excel, MS Word and MS PowerPoint;
(5) Excellent report writing skills;
(6) Excellent oral, written and presentation communication skills;
(7) Dynamic personality and ability to engage with people;
(8) Ability and willingness to undertake travel within India, up to 25% of the time.

5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:

The gross annual remuneration budgeted for the position ranges between Rs. 12 to 15 lacs per annum.The offer made to the selected candidate shall be commensurate with qualifications, experience and salary history.

6. CONTRACTUAL EMPLOYMENT: The successful candidate shall be offered three years contract, extendable based on performance.
