1. POSITION VACANT:Senior Manager (Development Support Unit),
PRADAN, New Delhi
2. ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND:
PRADAN is a respected Indian,
non-profit, established in 1983 and registered under the Societies Registration
Act. The organization works with the rural poor to enhance their income and
standard of living.
PRADAN is the largest non-profit
in the livelihood space in the country, with 400 professional staff, spread
across seven states (Jharkhand, Bihar, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh,
Rajasthan and West Bengal). It works at the grassroots level with field
activities organized across 43 districts in central and eastern India.
PRADAN mobilized investments of
over Rs.100 crore for livelihood projects in 2013-14. The organization is
expanding rapidly and operations are planned to double in the next five years.
PRADAN seeks to bring about
large-scale change in human condition in the poverty pockets by participating
in multi-stakeholder engagements. It is the project anchor for the large, Bill
and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) supported US $30m multi-state project
titled, Partnerships for Women’s Empowerment
and Rights (PoWER).

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting
to the Project Director, the Senior
Manager (Development Support Unit) shall initially be responsible for
managing and integrating the BMGF supported PoWER project. It is expected that the post
holder shall help mature and eventually manage several, large-scale poverty
reduction projects at PRADAN.
Key roles and responsibilities:
Key roles and responsibilities:
(1)
Overall in-charge of project delivery, while working closely with the
Integrator, designated as Project-Lead;
(2) Establishing close relationships with the Project Steering Committee (PSC) members for the smooth implementation of the project;
(3) In-charge of managing all sub grants made under the project, including ensuring meetings and minutes of steering committees, budget tracking, reworking, progress monitoring against plan, re-planning, if required, etc.;
(4) Working closely with the persons in-charge of the different thematic content being implemented in the project to identify experts, creating, content, training modules, toolkits, etc. These areas include Gender,WASH, Nutrition, Land Rights, ICT for Development, Civil Society Partnerships, etc.
(5) Tracking overall budgets and actual expenditure against forecast, reworking forecasts for donors;
(6) Tracking progress around plans and report preparation for donor and review meetings of the PSC, Project Advisory Board (PAB), etc., in close collaboration with the Project Lead;
(6) Supporting the Project-Lead in developing annual reports and other key communications with the Donor;
(7) Dealing with external audits (if any) and sub-grants;
(8) Following up on decisions taken in meetings of PSC, PAB, Sub-grant Steering Committee, etc.;
(9) Representing PRADAN in donor meetings and planning managing donor visits;
(10) Designing, organizing and attending major workshops and training events, as required;
(11) Working closely with the other Integrators in the Development Support Unit (DSU), in influencing donor and government policies with learning emerging from this project;
(12) Working closely with Integrators in the DSU for developing a system for organizational level management of key institutional grants in addition to the PoWER project. Institutional donors include the Tata Trusts, Axis Bank Foundation, European Union, Ford Foundation, IKEA Foundation, etc.;
(13) Developing project proposals, reviewing, summarizing and commenting on reports and documents received from teams and other partner organizations;
(14) Representing PRADAN in different relevant forums.

4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:
Qualifications:
Applicant must possess a relevant Masters degree from a reputed institution.

Experience:
(1) Minimum 8-12 years of experience in rural development;
(2) Minimum 3-5 years of experience in project management or grants management, with a reputed not for profit organization or a multi-state project.

6. COMPENSATION OFFERED:
Gross
compensation for the position is likely to be in the range of Rs. 10-15 lacs
pa. The offer made to the selected candidate shall be commensurate with
qualifications, experience and salary history.
7. TENURE:
This
position is on a fixed term contract till 2018, with possibility of extension,
based on project needs.
