Individual Relief (SOIR-IM), Dehradun
2. ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND:
The Swedish Organization for Individual
Relief (SOIR-IM) is an Indian NGO working in the
fields of education and economic empowerment for marginalized groups, such as,
rural women, tribals, migrant labourers, Tibetan refugees, children with
disabilities, etc.
SOIR-IM has been
working in India since the 1970s, through supporting NGO partners. SOIR-IM presently works with eight partner
organizations across the country. The majority of funding comes from the
Government of Sweden, through a donor organization in Sweden. SOIR-IM office currently employs 19 staff.

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
SOIR-IM wishes to
recruit a senior development professional, for developing and managing their
programme. This is an exciting opportunity for a professional with a strong
commitment to the values and mission of fighting poverty and exclusion, to come
on board with a credible NGO, doing excellent work at the grassroots level in
India.
The Country Director shall be responsible for the
successful implementation of SOIR-IM’s development programme. S/he
shall be responsible for operational and strategic planning, developing the
programme and budget and overseeing the execution of work done by the partner
organizations.
(1) Developing and implementing programmes in line with SOIR-IM strategies, policies,
guidelines and regulations;
(2) Ensuring the relevance of SOIR-IM’s portfolio of partner organisations and the efficient and effective achievements of results;
(3) Promoting SOIR-IM’s partners’ change agendas and ensuring capacity building and organisational development of partner organisations;
(4) Leading SOIR-IM’s external networking and coordinating with development actors, donor organisations and other stake-holders;
(5) Initiating and contributing to SOIR-IM’s fundraising from institutional donors;
(6) Developing, implementing, monitoring, evaluating and reporting programs and operational plans, by upholding an efficient and results-based PME system;
(7) Ensuring the institution of appropriate processes and practices for financial management and internal control;
(8) Ensuring that operations, systems and routines at the office comply with internal and external requirements, including FCRA regulations and the legal framework;
(9) Managing the office, including division of roles and responsibilities, supervision of staff, capacity development and work environment;
(10) Inspiring and leading staff to work towards common goals and contributing to organisational learning and development

4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:
Qualification:
Post Graduate degree, preferably in development studies, social
science, political science, international studies, management or a related
field.
Experience:
Required Experience:
(1) Minimum eight years of relevant professional experience in
managing social development programmes/ projects with minimum three years in
management or supervisory position;
(2) Demonstrated leadership and a record of accomplishment of working with civil society organisations;
(3) Documented experience in applying and promoting a rights-based approach to development;
(4) Understanding of and experience from the civil society sector, preferably from direct support to civil society organisations.

6. COMPENSATION OFFERED:
The gross remuneration budgeted for this position is in the range
of INR 18-22 lacs per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
7. TENURE:
The position offers a full-time, two-year contract with
possibility for extension. There will be a probationary period for six months.
