The Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) is working towards building a healthier India. It is helping to address the limited institutional and systems capacity in India by strengthening education and training, advancing research and technology and facilitating policy and practice in the area of Public Health. PHFI is headquartered in New Delhi with national presence through its constituent units of regional Indian Institutes of Public Health (IIPHs) and Centres of Applied Research in core public health themes. The Foundation, established in 2006 as a public private initiative, is governed by an independent board comprising of senior government officials, eminent Indian and International academic and leaders, civil society representatives and corporate leaders. Project Brief: 
Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) is a response to redress the limited institutional capacity in India for strengthening training, research and policy development in the area of Public Health. It is a public private partnership that was collaboratively evolved through consultations with multiple constituencies.

Department of Health Promotion is one of the units within Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) primarily focusing on Original Research; Advocacy; and advancing support to the Indian Government at National and various State levels in strengthening capacity, policies and evidence for health promotion. The specialized target areas of unit are Tobacco Control; Alcohol Control; and Adolescent Health Promotion with emphasis on sound evidence-based strategies, well-planned approach to implementation and evaluation.

Deliverables:

• Analysis of National Sample Surveys data, particularly, household consumer expenditure survey rounds.
• Create and maintain database for the various components of projects under Health Promotion.
• Undertake sampling design and estimate sample size for observational as well as intervention studies.
• Contribute to preparation of research tools, guides and manuals.
• Conduct field tests and pilots for various survey questionnaires and guidelines.
• Develop data entry format for primary data collected from the field.
• Analysis of all datasets under various projects under health promotion division.
• Ensure timely completion of data management, analysis and reports.
• Assist in preparing manuscripts and documents.
• Provide statistical guidance to staff members from Health Promotion Division and be able to carry out teamwork with staff members from other divisions/units in PHFI.
• The candidate will be positioned in Delhi and may be required to travel to various states in India.
• Any other activities as required by Health promotion & Tobacco Control Unit.

Qualification:

Essential

• A M Phil./ Ph.D. in Statistics/ Demography/ Economics.

Desirable
• Publications in peer reviewed journals.

Experience:

Essential:

• At least 4 to 5 years of experience in research and evaluation.
• Experience of handling large scale/ small scale surveys in public health.
• Experience of handling large scale secondary data sources like NFHS, NSS, DLHS.
• Experience in developing research design, sampling design preferable.
• Experience of database management is required.
• Experience of working with Tobacco and Alcohol control programs would be an asset.
• Experience in conducting regression analysis, longitudinal data analysis, panel data analysis and multilevel modelling.
• Experience in working on data analysis software like STATA, SPSS, SAS, R , Atlas Ti, GIS etc.
• Computer skills mandatory, Good presentation and communication skills.
Annual Salary (CTC) will be based on the available skills and fitment of the incumbent as per the selection process.
