Title: Deputy Team Leader

Location: Lucknow/ Patna

PROJECT SUMMARY:

EngenderHealth-India is seeking expressions of interest from highly-qualified candidates in anticipation of expansion of the Technical Support Unit, funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The expansion aims to substantially enhance the availability and quality of public family planning (FP) services in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh by augmenting the technical and management capacity and scope of activities related to FP through the TSU. The overall goal of the proposed project is to support the GoUP to address unmet family planning needs of women in the state by expanding the availability, quality and voluntary uptake of modern contraception methods, particularly in currently geographically underserved areas.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Deputy Team Leader will support Team Leader/SPM in timely implementation of project activities as per approved work plan. S/he will ensure proper documentation, analysis and reporting of project activities under the supervision and in discussion with the Team Leader/SPM. S/he will also be responsible for liaison with State Government health officials and other TSU partners as well as internal (EH) team as per requirements. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Support Team Leader in liaising with the state health authorities to advocate for the project implementation needs
  • Ensure training plan is coordinated between clinical trainer and district level health officials for effective implementation
  • Develop, finalize and implement the PMP in coordination with the State Team Leader/State Project Manager, field staff, local stakeholders, FP compliance  monitoring plan as per EH standards
  • Compile project’s monthly, quarterly and annual reports and ensure all data reported meets donors’ established data quality standards and submit to State Team Leader for review and onward transmission identifying gaps and recommending solution.
  • Track project deliverables as agreed with donor on a monthly basis and submit report to Team Leader on timely basis.
  • Ensure adherence to technical and programme standards and quality
  • Providing oversight and guidance to Technical Specialists engaged in providing technical assistance to the State Health Society in Family Planning
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE:
  • Post graduate degree in health management; business studies; public health or relevant branch of social sciences.
  • Experience working for international organizations in RH/FP RMNCHA area
  • At least 10-15 years of working experience in RH/ FP area in management of programs 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Good knowledge and skills for providing Family planning / Reproductive health services
  • Demonstrated leadership in working and collaborating with a wide range of partners including state officials from the public, private commercial, NGO partners and international donor agencies
  • Strong communication, facilitation, liaison, and motivation skills
  • Good training skills
  • Expertise in writing reports
  • Computer skills - MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Internet Explorer
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Experience working in high pressure  environment with constantly changing proprieties and deadlines
  • Willingness to travel to peripheral health facilities and villages up to 50% of time
