Program Overview
Pathfinder began working in India in the 1950s and expanded family planning services throughout the 1970s. Currently Pathfinder is implementing reproductive health and family planning projects in the states of Bihar and Rajasthan; maternal and newborn health projects in Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Bihar and Odisha; and HIV and AIDS work in Maharashtra. Pathfinder is in the process of establishing the India office as a registered local organization affiliated with Pathfinder International. Pathfinder’s strategy in India focuses on supporting the reproductive health and rights of underserved and vulnerable populations. Pathfinder supports the Government of India and its partners to increase demand for family planning, reproductive health, and maternal health services, while equipping and empowering health care providers and communities to better address adolescent health, maternal child health, unsafe abortion, and HIV and AIDS.
Project: The focus of the Project is to improve access to essential & emergency obstetric care services in select districts of Uttar Pradesh (Kanpur Nagar, Kanpur Dehat and Kannauj), through community and clinical approaches. The project proposes to foster collaboration between public and private sectors through the creation of a network of private providers and establishing a referral mechanism. The project entails capacity building, community awareness, quality assurance and strong advocacy.
Position Purpose
The position will be under the direct supervision of Director Programs and will be responsible for supporting the communication and documentation activities under the project
Key Responsibilities
  • Conceive documentation themes in consultation with the Director Programs/State Project Manager
  • Drafting and distribution of Press Releases
  • Assist in design/layout of publications and other dissemination materials. Provide supervision in printing and production
  • Undertake documentation of case studies and good practices
  • Write, edit and distribute any important project reports, newsletters, presentations & process documentation
  • Maintain photo library, press clipping library and other documentations
  • Managing PR and communications for all internal and external events and campaigns
  • Support with writing proposals, conference presentations and papers, speeches and other content relevant to the organization
Others
  • Assist and facilitate external media productions such as professional photo and video coverage of the project activities
  • Support Event Management activities as required
  • Liaise with local suppliers for printing and delivery of communication materials and assist in carrying out administrative functions in the preparation of local purchase requisition orders
  • Liaise and follow up with finance on all purchase orders to ensure payments made to suppliers for Communication activities
  • Any other responsibilities as assigned by the State Project Manager & Director Programs.
Basic Requirements
Professional Qualifications and Experience
  • Master’s degree and above. Basic understanding of Public health related issues
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience. Previous work experience in development/international organization will be an advantage. 
Professional & Personal Competencies
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills with language proficiency in English and Hindi both
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, In Design, Corel Draw, Illustrator, Page maker or other web/graphic design software will be an advantage
  • A team player with experience of working in multicultural professional teams
  • Willing to travel extensively (around 8 days/month), in project intervention areas in Uttar Pradesh.
