1. POSITION VACANT: Business Development Manager (BDM), Railway
Children, New Delhi
2. BACKGROUND: Railway Children (RC) is an international non-profit
organisation, working since 1995 in United Kingdom, India and East Africa, to
create ‘a world where no child should ever have to live alone on the streets’.
In
India, RC works through partnerships with NGOs
and directly with government on addressing the issues of children at and
around, major railway stations. These are children who leave their family where
they suffer poverty, violence, abuse and neglect and also include children
staying with families at the station. They find themselves living alone because
there is nowhere else to go and nobody to turn to. While working in India RCprovides
support through:
(1)
Early intervention at and around the railway station
(2) Protecting and ensuring community/ family care of vulnerable children
(3) Activating government child protection mechanisms.

present a team of 12 professionals are working with RC in India, including four who are
working out of the Country Office in Mumbai and others working from their
residences, in different parts of the country.

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting
to the Country Director, the Business
Development Manager (BDM) shall
be responsible for developing relationships and network across corporate and
charity sector, raising funds, meeting target and increasing RC
India’s funding
contribution ratio to 40% (vis-à-vis RC UK’s contribution of 60%), by the year
2017-18.
Key Job Responsibilities:
A) Fundraising:
(1)
Securing significant income, identifying and initiating relationships with
prospective corporate and individual donors and supporters;
(2) Engaging the Country Director, Commercial Director and Board of Trustees in cultivating, soliciting and stewarding major prospective donors;
(3) Monitoring the external environment to understand the latest developments in fundraising innovations, anticipating their significance and positive impact on RC India’s funding streams and fundraising potential;
(4) Building and activating strong networks within the voluntary sector, government and the Indian business community, ensuring RC India is positively positioned to embrace opportunities;
(5) Acting as a positive representative for RC, engaging key audiences with organisational aims and forging profitable and long-term fundraising relationships;
(6) Liaising with existing clients to identify new business opportunities.

B) Management:
(1)
Providing strong account management inputs to existing funders and supporters,
ensuring agreed benefits and impact is reported back within appropriate
timelines to ensure a sustainable and credible portfolio;
(2) Being a visible, energetic and inspiring leader, encouraging cross-team working and innovation;
(3) Developing strong and generative relationships with colleagues and trustees, ensuring consistent communication, engagement and support of fundraising plans and initiatives;
(4) Contributing to the overall leadership and strategic management of the organisation as an active member of the senior team;
(5) Working in coordination with and supporting the UK fund raising team in achieving organizational targets;
(6) Identifying and developing the company’s unique selling propositions and differentiators.

4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:
Qualification:
Applicant
must possess MBA or Post Graduate Degree/ Diploma in Sales, Marketing, or a
related discipline.
Experience:
Experience:
(1)
Minimum five years of professional experience in generating income/sales,
achieving and exceeding income targets;
(2) Strategic planning, setting and achievement of targets, with an entrepreneurial attitude to growth;
(3) Monitoring, reporting and forecasting against plans, forecasts and budgets;
(4) Knowledge of multiple income streams, developing new fundraising products in response to new opportunities;
(5) Representing and influencing key stakeholders.

5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:
Gross
compensation for the position shall be attractive. The offer made to the
selected candidate shall be commensurate with qualifications, experience and
salary history.
6. LOCATION: New Delhi/NCR. (Note: The incumbent
shall be required to work from home, for at least six months initially.)
