1.POSITION VACANT:  National Thematic Manager- Child Protection (NTMCP), Save the Children India, New Delhi

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the Director of Programmes, the NTMCP shall primarily serve as an ‘advisor’ to the organization on Child Protection, with responsibility for the design and implementation of all related thematic areas for SC in India. S/he will also be responsible for designing the Policy and Advocacy Plan pertaining to Child Protection, at the state and national levels.


Specific Responsibilities:
(A) Thematic Direction:
(1) Leading, developing and expanding the Child Protection thematic plan and strategy in line with SC’s overall strategic plan;
(2) Providing thematic inputs to the Advocacy strategy by closely working with the Policy and Advocacy Team and continuously reviewing policies and gaps at the national and state levels;
(3) Ensuring the development of a capability building framework pertaining to Child Protection so that technical expertise percolates down to both staff and partners of SC;
(4) Building systemic processes to increase the quality of the programs;
(5) Building a Child Protection framework and providing inputs into Emergencies and Disaster Risk Reduction programs;
(6) Providing inputs to strengthen systems such as M&E, KM etc., apart from contributing to program process essentials such as baseline, concurrent and final evaluation of the projects;
(7) Leading in developing ToRs for Internal Implementation experiences and evidences;
(8) Providing guidance on relevant data and statistics techniques and defining the boundaries of data sources thereby ensuring creation of quantifiable frameworks for measuring and monitoring results on the thematic sector;
(9) Documenting and sharing best practices in projects through publications, papers and thought-ware on Child Protection;
(10) Representing SC’s Child Protection expertise in international forums; Coordinating and supporting national and international networks.
(B) Program Execution:
(1) Program Strategy Execution:
(a) Charting out a detailed operation plan clearly spelling out all the goals, objectives and milestones from the projects on Child Protection and aligning it with geographic imperatives;
(b) Guiding and building capacity of the thematic and program coordinators, to ensure optimal and gainful utilization of process resources;
(2) Advising corrective actions/ expediting activities, if there are back logs depending upon the observations from direct monitoring/ review of program progress;
(3) Providing inputs to the Internal Communication framework pertaining to Child Protection.
(C) Partnership Management:
(1) New Opportunities:
(a) Developing high-quality proposals pertaining to Child Protection, proactively identifying new opportunities, and responding quickly and professionally to requests for proposals from Donors, SC Alliance members, both in India and internationally;
(b) Guiding CP point-of-view on all proposals.
(2) Strengthening the partner selection process by developing/ reviewing thematic assessment of partners.
4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

Qualifications:
Ph.D./ Masters in Social Work/ Developmental Studies and/or equivalent.
Experience:
Minimum 10 years of work experience in a leadership role, focusing on policy advocacy on Child Protection issues, preferably with government and/or other stakeholders, at a senior level.
Skills and Competencies:
(1) Thorough knowledge of Child Rights and issues faced by India’s marginalized children;
(2) Excellent networking and communication skills
(3) Prior experience of publishing papers and/or articles on Child Protection and/or Child Rights.
5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:

Gross annual remuneration budgeted for the position is attractive. Please note that remuneration offered to the candidate selected, shall be commensurate with qualifications, experience and salary history.
