A. POSITION PURPOSE: 

PSI is in third phase of implementation of the Women’s Health Project (WHP) named Pehel in India. Pehel project focuses on increasing use of Long Acting Family Planning Methods- the Intra Uterine Device and creating access to safe abortions in particular by working on medical abortions. Pehel project currently has a strong network of over 1000 gynaecologists who help in achieving the project goals. For effective implementation of Project deliverables PSI is looking for a Senior Medical Training Specialist Manager to improve performance of the network doctors with respect to quality of service delivery, through technical inputs, management and execution of trainings in collaboration with program team. He/she will also provide strategic inputs to the region for improved health impact.

B. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Program Management, Development, Monitoring and Evaluation:
• Responsible for compliance with franchise goals and Pehel project objectives in the region.
• Using program management and evaluation teams input identifies and meets performance improvement needs of health care providers and franchise teams. 
• Provides training, participates in mentoring training and support visits and provides appropriate documentation of the same and onward feeding into MIS
• Facilitates qualitative research with health care providers; and other performance enhancement initiatives for achieving quality standards
• In collaboration with the state monitoring and evaluation team and HO Technical team gives input to the management system to enhance the effectiveness of training and support visits for health care providers.
• Participates as mentor of Franchise team.
• Assures that documentation, reporting and use of evaluation findings to improve interventions, are in place
• Provides inputs for development of concept papers and proposals.
• Support MIS Manager in compiling monthly data. 
• Coordinates with Regional communication team to promote the health services of the franchised outlets.
• Contributes to development of newsletter and technical letters by preparing or reviewing write-ups on program or technical issues.
• Provides technical inputs and support for new services that may be introduced in the region
• Keeps abreast with support from HO technical team of relevant public health issues, clinical guidelines and standards 
• Recommends policies and objectives to Director Programs & Deputy Director MST to ensure the most effective operation of franchise activities.
• Capacity building of the non-medical staff/field staff on the areas for which they are working.
• Builds partnerships through networking with public health professionals, key stakeholders including Govt officials, reputed training organizations /institutes/colleges

Coordination & Advocacy

• Promote a positive profile of the program and good understanding among other sectors, partners and communities about the program 
• Develop and maintain strong working relationships with all stakeholders – including government, Represent PSI in various advocacy forums to enhance visibility of the project

Financial Management

• Manage MST related program budget to maintain program expenditure within budget parameters

Human Resource Management

• Facilitate training of network providers and chemist 
• Monitor staff performance and develop staff capacity building plans 

C. QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Post Graduate (preferable) in Gynecology & Obstetrics/ PSM/Public Health 
• At least 8 years of experience public health experience in Reproductive and Child Health including Family Planning.

D. SKILLS:

• Excellent facilitation skills, good communication skills, with good spoken and written English and Hindi
• Excellent report writing and presentation skills
• Excellent networking and advocacy skills
