1. POSITION VACANT:

2. ORGANISATION BACKGROUND: The Society for Elimination of Rural
Poverty (SERP) was
established by the Government of Andhra Pradesh (GoAP) as the primary support structure to
facilitate poverty reduction through social mobilization and improvement of
livelihoods of the rural poor in Andhra Pradesh. SERP works on a comprehensive
multi-dimensional poverty alleviation strategy by focusing equally on
Livelihoods and Human Development. The fundamental unit of development at SERP is the rural poor households and all
interventions of SERP strive to achieve essentially
two outcomes- sustainable per capita household incomes of Rs. 100,000/- per
annum from multiple livelihoods sources and improved Human Development
Indicators. Operating on the fundamental premise that empowerment and
participation are the crux of development, SERP works through community-based
organizations to address poverty eradication.

3. PROJECT BACKROUND:
GoAP has
approved the World Bank supported Andhra Pradesh Rural Inclusive Growth
Project (APRIGP) for
implementation by AP-SERP in 150 most backward mandals of the
state. APRIGP shall enable selected poor households
enhance agricultural incomes and secure increased access to human development
services and social entitlements. The project period for implementation is from
February 1, 2015 to February 1, 2020. The project is proposed to have 5
components; a) Value Chain Development through Producer Organizations; b) Human
Development; c) Social Development, Safety Nets and Entitlements; d) Mission
Support, ICT, TA and Partnerships and e) Project Implementation Support.
APRIGP aims to
adopt a Value-Chain based approach with Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) to ensure
increased incomes.
4. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Director Livelihoods (Farm), the Value Chain leader (Coffee and Cashew) is responsible for strengthening coffee and cashew
production through establishing of value chains and market linkages under APRIGP.
Key Responsibilities:
1) Establish value chain for strengthening the sustainable agriculture
across coffee and cashew;
2) Ensure achievement of monthly, quarterly and yearly sales targets planned for all Farmer-producer Groups and Organizations (of coffee and cashew) with the primary objective of maximizing price realization at farmer-level;
3) Ensure achievement of season-wise production plans developed by Farmer-producer Groups and Organizations (of coffee and cashew);
4) Establishing market linkages for the two commodities;
5) Develop the linkages and networks required at State level with Government department, private sector players/businesses and NGO’s. Also, identify and implement strategies for partnership and collaboration;
6) Engage with the consultants and technical support agencies for providing technical and managerial support during the roll out plan for the project;
7) Provide monitoring inputs to spearhead teams (SHT) to strengthen activities and develop new implementation areas;
8) Develop appropriate training modules and provide training to SHT’s.

5. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:
Qualification:
The applicant should have minimum a Master’s Degree in
Agriculture/ Horticulture.
Experience:
1) Minimum of five years of direct experience of working on/ with
coffee or/and cashew value-chain including extension services/ networks, value
chain strengthening, input/output supplies and linkages to local markets;
2) Minimum of two years of experience working with community-based institutions (cooperatives, Producer Company) towards agriculture business development at Mandal/District-level;
3) A demonstrable track record in promoting business growth and development, through value chain development, innovative thinking and strong team building, are considered pre-requisites.
Skills & Competencies:

3) Ability to work with target-orientation and deliver results for community organizations in securing best price for their commodities;
4) Sensitivity towards and understanding of functioning of Farmer Producer Organizations;
5) Proficiency in Telugu.

6. COMPENSATION OFFERED:
Gross compensation budgeted for the position shall be attractive.
Please note that the offer made to the selected candidate shall be commensurate
with qualifications, experience and salary history.
7. LOCATION: Vijayawada
with visits to field locations, as and when required. Initial reporting will be
at Hyderabad.
