TITLE: Consultant (under the capacity of Coach) Non Payroll-Full Time under BetterBirth Uttar Pradesh


LOCATION: For districts under Hub offices located in Agra, Meerut, Gorakhpur, Varanasi and Lucknow

REPORTS TO: Manager/Consultant-Programs

GRADE LEVEL EQUIVALENT: III

A. POSITION PURPOSE:
To implement the WHO Safe Childbirth Checklist program in selected health facilities, PSI/India is seeking qualified professionals to work as Consultant. Consultant will support the Intervention team of WHO SCC in health facilities by conducting training and coaching of facility staff and facilitate and motivate them in adherence to the WHO SCC program in every child birth at the facility. The consultant should be flexible to relocate to different health facilities located in various districts of Uttar Pradesh.

B. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist in conducting training of facility staff with Team Leaders.
• Conduct regular coaching visits to health facilities to observe and facilitate facility staff in adherence to WHO SCC in every childbirth at the facility
• Record the activities of the Birth Attendants using tools at select health facility and data entry.
• Submit reports of visits to health facilities to Team leader on regular basis
• Make Planning on Coaching Items, Coaching Strategies and Tools to be used for the Coaching visits, in consultation with the Team Leaders.
• Any other support as and when required by Other Intervention Team Members and BetterBirth HQ staff.

C. QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Graduate with 1-3 years of experience
• Preference will be given to person having degree/diploma in General Nursing & Midwifery or B.Sc. Nursing with valid registration from Nursing council and experience in labour room & ANM/Midwifery

D. SKILLS:

• Good Communication skills with fluency in Hindi and should be able to read and write English.
• Good interpersonal /human relations skills
• Strong observation skills and the ability to interact with health facility staff and district officials in a sensitive and empathic manner.
• A good team player with strong facilitation skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Pleasing personality and a zeal for field work
