We are seeking a
dynamic and self-motivated professional with excellent data management skills
to work as a fixed-term consultant in New Delhi, India.
The International Maize and Wheat
Improvement Center, known by its
Spanish acronym, CIMMYT, is a
not-for-profit research and training organization with partners in over 100
countries, focused on increasing food security and reducing poverty at an

Position will be
based in Delhi.
The main responsibilities of this position will be:
- Collect,
manage and synthesize primary and secondary data on socio-economic
conditions, agronomic management and production economics of various
cropping systems in South Asia, with particular focus in India.
- Contribute
to the analysis of GHG data from various research trials in South Asia and
prepare GHG database for subsequent analysis and data sharing.
- Contribute
to the analysis and writing of final technical report for the CCAFS-funded
project entitled ‘Agro-economic analysis of GHG mitigation in India’.
- Organize
the database and prepare input files for cropping system and soil
biogeochemical models and input-output matrix tables for scenario
analysis.
- In
consultation with other CIMMYT staff in the region, design and execute
short studies (e.g. Surveys, literature review, meta-analysis and other
statistical analyses) to address data and knowledge gaps on climate change
mitigation in agriculture.
- Involved in
relevant data compilation to establish evidence of various climate smart
practices. Assist with other tasks suggested by the supervisors.
We are seeking candidates with the following qualification, skills and
attitudes:
- At least an
MSc in engineering, statistics or biological sciences.
- Good
understanding of the main cropping systems in India with knowledge and
exposure to alternative cropping system practices such as Conservation
Agriculture.
- Ability to
manage, statistically analyse and synthesize scientific data (primary as
well as secondary) and translate research results in peer reviewed
publications.
- Conversant
with data management in GIS, Excell/access and other software
- Person with
an ability to manage data in ‘R’ will have added advantage
- Willingness
to spend considerable time away from home.
The position is
available initially for a fixed-term period of one year but this may be
extended subject to performance and the continued availability of funds.
